This independent bookstore has a huge selection with 60,000 carefully chosen used books. It's where I go first when I am looking for a used book. The store also seems to have a social conscience--- there are many notices posted of political goings-on in Ithaca. And, there is a cafe upstairs. The best thing is that it is conveniently located right there on The Commons.

After having used several of their cookbooks, I was excited to visit the restaurant. I ate there every day while I vacationed in Ithaca. The menu is wonderful, the decor is charming, and the service is great. Can't wait to go back.

Trader K's is a used clothing store located on the Commons. They have a huge selection of women's and men's clothing and I think they may also have kids' clothes. Generally, they carry popular brands and the clothing is in fairly good shape. They also accept your used clothing in exchange for either cash or store credit. However, they are fairly strict on which types of clothing or what brands they accept, and anything that looks worn is not taken. Depending on what it is, you could get a couple bucks here and there. If you decide to take store credit, I believe you end up getting a higher cash equivalent. During certain times, if they are unable to accept your clothing you may leave it there and it will be donated.

As I was raised in Arizona, this is not my idea of a Mexican restaurant, but it's good enough for the east coast -- but why oh why would anyone want to put rice in a burrito?! It just doesn't belong there. However, the food and beer are good. They also have a big selection of margaritas... I'll have to try one of those. It's also conveniently located on the corner of Aurora and State streets, across from The Commons. I must admit, I DO like their spicy pickled carrots and hot chilies, and their chicken mole is quite tasty, too.

I was there over the 4th of July as well-and I called in my order from our hotel because I didn't feel like waiting in line and being in a crowd. Was told it would be ready in 10 minutes--and it was! When you walk in, immediately go to the right. You can place a takeout order or pickup. VERY fast-GREAT food and great prices-I think My burrito was $3.99-and was like 2 pounds-AWESOME.
Pros: Take out was FAST, BIG burrito, plenty of Sour Cream-if you're like me that's a plus...
Cons: The wait if you want to eat there...

If you're not into the college bar/pub type scene, I totally recommend this place during lunch or dinner hours. The Nines has some of the best pizza in Ithaca. I totally miss living there, and being able to go grab a slice whenever I feel like it!
The atmosphere here is pretty cool too. The Nines name comes from the fact that this building used to be Ithaca's #9 Fire Station. They still use some of the pulley systems to send things between the 1st and 2nd floors, and it's just pretty nostalgic feeling. They also have great outdoor seating for the warmer weather months.
If you're looking for a great place to grab great pizza, The Nines is it when in Ithaca!

I have been involved in athletics all my life. I have injured my body a number of times because of overtraining and just getting old and cannot work as hard. I have been to Physical Therapist and Matty is the greatest healer of my injuries that I have ever exoerienced.

The first time I went to Maxies I was blown away. First by the unique but fun interior, but then more importantly by the food.
My favorite dish by far is the cajun crawfish appetizer. Sometimes we have to get one for each person because it is just so delicious. Other favorites include the po' boy sandwiches, pulled pork, and chicken fried chicken. But there's so much more! And many of the meals come with cajun fries, which I can't get enough of. One of the best parts is that instead of bread before the meal, you get corn bread. Yum.
The wait staff is always happy, helpful, and attentive. The food comes at perfect timing. I couldn't ask for more out of a restaurant... and I haven't even tried the oyster bar yet!
The prices are also very reasonable. My friends and I often go here for a break from campus food, and I always bring my parents to Maxies when they come to visit. The only downside is limited parking. But I'd walk!
