The owner is back to being the head chef and he is a treat to talk with. It is pretty pricey but whenever I want sushi that I know will be top notch, I go there. The innovation is a little lacking so sometimes I make up my own rolls.
Pros: Fresh, dependable, informative
Cons: Price

This was one of the few Japanese restaurants, and it was definitely a local favorite amongst everyone. The owner is extremely friendly and the atmosphere is pretty classy. I loved the udon and katsu.

Went there for a Sunday night dinner. Miso soup was fine but when we got to the main course it was average at best. Quality of the fish was so so and the various rolls were plain. Even the teriyaki was bad, so bad that we ended up sending it back. I guess maybe in Issaquah this is "good sushi" but to anyone who has had a lot of sushi, even a lot of sushi in Seattle, this place is extremely average but the prices push it to below average.
Pros: Sushi boat was nice
Cons: Pricey, too dark for Issaquah, boring sushi with average fish

It used to be that there were no other options than Sushiman for sushi in issaquah other than the grocery store. Bobby is wonderful, but he needs to learn that now in Issaquah we have other options, such as iSushi and the little place on Front Street. Plus, the PCC now has a great sushi bar. His prices really need to go down -- we won't go there again unless they do. We can get equivalent california rolls, and much more creative dishes at iSushi for half the price--if that.
Pros: Nice management, decent sushi
Cons: Way, Way Overpriced

Been a Seattle Area Sushi enthusiast for years. Been to them all. This place was a much better value years ago before he went high-end with his new digs. Boy talk about black and white on those last two posts. (The positive one sounds like someone pumping the restaurant on purpose.)
Here's the skinny. As far as decor and service, there aren't many places places on the Eastside that match or beat this place. (Obviously any restaurant the service may take a a little dive if it is extremely busy.)
The quality of the fish here is as good as it gets. (All the good sushi restaurants basically get their fish from the same supplier(s).) The attention to detail is excellent. There's a more casual side with TV usually playing sports or Sumo and a little more elegant side devoid of children.
If you are not price conscious, this is a good pick if you are East of Bellevue, pretty much the only pick in my mind. It ranks up their with the best of them. Unfortunately as far as value, it ranks down in the lower half of the pack. Everything is more expensive than it should be for what you get. The size of the cuts of fish on the sushi are pretty average if not maybe a little below average.
It is a joke this restaurant has one $ on CitySearch. Play on shelling out at least $60 for two adults that want some variety and want to leave with a full stomach, and that's not including drinks. You can easily reach the $100 mark and beyond at this place if you have a few drinks and eat some of the more exotic stuff. I Love Sushi in Bellevue is not as nice of a decor but you get the same quality and bit more for your money.
Recommended for those that are not price conscious when eating out.
Pros: Top Quality. Great Decor/Ambiance.
Cons: Pricey for what you get.

Stay away from this place on the weekends. We live in Sammamish so decided to try something local...what a mistake. We had a reservation and still waited 20 minutes. The sushi was average and disappointing. On a scale of 1-10 I rank it 4. QFC or Larry's has about the same quality sushi. It's too bad since we would love to stay close to home for sushi.
Pros: location,good waiters
Cons: poor food, long wait,

Sushiman offers good quality of sushi. It is, however, a bit too pricey. The ambiance is comfortable and modern. But the selections on the menu is decent but not extensive. Service is a little disappointing. The owner/chef is a former sumo wrestler as well. But you don't get to see him often.
I'd rather drive to Belltown to enjoy better sushi.
