Best Terrier Grooming Around 2/15/2011

We have had great experiences with PetSmart Issq grooming. Amanda is experienced and excellent with her terrier cuts. (Terrier cuts have pretty specific requirements and some grooming places try to get away with a generic cut that is less work) Amanda is so effusive and loving with Chelsea. We have had good, friendly service in all of our phone and in-person interactions. When calling to make my latest appt, I appreciated the advance heads-up that my dog's vaccinations were due for updating in 3 months. more

Really Scary Place 4/6/2010

My poor Labradoodle has had an awful time there, and we've gone to the Issaquah PetSmart off-and-on over the course of 3 years. At the Pet Hotel a dog bit his ear, and their vet had to stitch him up while we were gone! The Pawgress Report (literally, I'm not kidding you) said "Great experience, No issues" on it. When we asked why they didn't mention the bite & bleeding, they said because the "Pawgress Report is for only reporting good things." Huh?! Just think of all the bad experiences that aren't being reported. And the Grooming Salon? Horrible. One time the groomer shaved his ears too close and he bled for eight days where she nicked him. She even had to take him to the on-site vet to have them stop the bleeding when I picked him up. We waited a year, then thought, "Maybe they'll have changed groomers." This last time I went, we only requested a Bath & Brush because we didn't want to take the chance of him getting cut again. When I picked him I noticed blood on his paw. The groomer didn't even tell me, and when I pointed it out she said, "Oh yeah, I cut him a little too close on his nails." I said, "Oh. . .Did he cry?" and she said (get this) "No, they don't even feel it." Oh, REALLY?? Because I've seen dogs cry from that before. We will NEVER go back there again. I feel completely horrible that I kept giving Issaquah PetSmart a chance. They just have truly bad quality control and the workers are sketchy people in general. I knew a girl who quit working in the grooming salon because they were told they had to reach a quota of groomed dogs per hour, and that's all they care about-- grooming FAST, and quality was not emphasized. As for the main store workers, one time my puppy peed on the floor and the kid on duty made me wipe it up while he stood OVER me, watching, even though I had my baby girl in my arms (who was crying at the time). I always clean up after my pets, but that was just wierd. . . Also the cashiers are consistently rude. It's bizarre. Save yourselves by not EVER going there! more

Done with Petsmart 10/15/2009

Same problem; took my dogs in, after having gone there for 2+ yrs, and they say they need vacc records right now. Of course, I did not have them with me, so I wasted a trip, hauled the dogs back home & am done with this shop. more

Not good service 9/12/2009

I used to bring my cat here to have her nails clipped until one women made my husband hold our cat instead of holding it herself - and didn't care when the cat climbed up my husband's neck and scratched him. I could have clipped the nails myself for less money and less blood. more

Experience Based on the Groomers 9/21/2008

With any groomer you go to, I would advise you check with other clients to see how they like their service. It is Petsmart's responsibility to hire quality groomers that value their work. Now I have been to a Petsmart groomer that was terrible I mean they didn't follow instructions, long wait, etc. I moved and began going to a Petsmart closer to my new residence. At this particular Petsmart they treated my babies like family. (Silver Spring, MD) MI've been going to them for the last 2 years now. more

Horror Story! 10/19/2007

Do not take your dog there unless you want to ensure you will not recognize them. They don't follow instructions and I could do a better job with a dull knife. I recommend Happy Hounds. more

EXCELLENT 10/3/2006

I have a 90 lb Golden Retriever and the groomers take excellent care of TAG. He gets very dirty and smelly swimming every day in Lake Sammamish and they get him clean as a whistle and smelling like a flower. Too bad they can't come live at my house and work their magic on my kids!!!! more

Used to be good but not any more 7/8/2006

We've used the Issaquah Petsmart for grooming for about 5 years. We were really happy with them the first couple of years. Then they started getting turnover in the grooming department and the service became inconsistent. Some times they wouldn't put the bandanna on, others they wouldn't dry them, still others they wouldn't do their nails. I finally got fed up last week. We brought our dogs and when we came in they said they needed vaccine certificates. This was never mentioned when we made the call. They claimed they called the day before which we figured out was 4 PM on a Saturday: no way you can get your documents from a vet then. They have the documents already on file and they're good: they could not explain to us why they needed yet another copy. We've had issues with them and documents before, but this was the first time that the net of it was that they wouldn't groom them. So, we wasted an hour hauling our dogs to their shop for no reason. At this point, I would recommend someone else. The people that work in back now seem to be looking for any excuse not to do their jobs. more

Worst Grooming Job EVER! 6/11/2006

My poor puppy looks like a rat. He was a 5mo old darling Goldendoodle, but now he looks so sad and embarrassed! Normally I use the Waggin Wagon, a mobile pet groomer, but for some reason she didn't show up for her apt last week. I couldn't reach her (and still can't but that's another review) so I called Petsmart, where I have shopped in the past, to see if their grooming dept had an opening in the next day or two. What luck! They could fit me in that afternoon! In any case, they were very nice when I dropped him off. Since he had never been groomed there, I was very clear that I liked his curly fur (not to cut it too short) and I liked his tail with the long hair (part of the Golden Retriever look he has). But that I didn't want a poodle cut, so just something even all over. Honestly the bath was more important at that point that the cut anyway. When I came back 3 hours later, I didn't even recognize my dog. He looks SO BAD! His cut is uneven and they shaved his tail completely. Granted, he is easier to dry off after he has played outside, but only because he has NO FUR! I think I could have done better with a pair of childproof scissors. DON'T EVER GO THERE!!! more
