I brought 10 of my friends from work to The Iris. Only one had been there before. They all LOVED the food and the atmosphere. They were going to definitely recommend it to their family and friends. Love Tim's Cheesecake too! I would much rather go to The Iris for a steak than drive into Seattle and deal with the noisy atmosphere and the high priced steak places! Worth the price at The Iris! Great owners - always friendly and caring! Thanks!
Pros: Food & Service
Cons: Need more signs out by the road

How often do you find a great restaurant that hits every ball out the ballpark? With excellent food, a great wine list and friendly enjoyable service, the Iris Grill puts even Ichiro Suzuki's batting average to shame. And, it won't cost you anywhere near his $17 million salary to eat there. The steaks are better than the "big name" steak houses in town, where that great steak taste is masked with too much salt. You want olives hand-stuffed with blue cheese in your martini? No problem at the Iris Grill. Their signature "Iris Salad" is to die for. Try their steak or perhaps one of my favorites, the duck. A great bottle of wine and end the day with a slice of Tim's famous cheesecake and you will definitely be back for more. Hands down my favorite!
Pros: Best service -- talented, knowledgeable, funny and enjoyable. There when needed without being obtrusive

Hi again eatinlady, I appriciate the feedback you gave me. I see that you are a chef so critiques from you mean even so much more. Although, I have never in my life served mango salsa with crab cakes, or mashed potatoes, or any combination of the three? Maybe you have us confused with somewhere else? I have only served mango salsa with fish on a speacial maybe 3 times in 3 years because it was requested or they accidentaly sent me a case of mangos instead of one each. I would love to talk to you personaly, this dang internet anonymity makes it hard to take anything seriously,, but as you can see I really do! If you will come back, dinner will be on me, and I personaly promise a great dining experience. The other Jayhawk is a coincidence, i assure you. I laughed at that too. Kansas people are everywhere!

My husband, father and I went to the Iris on a very busy Friday night and had a really nice dinner. From our waiter Patrick to the salmon special, everything was really good. It took a little time to get our appetizers but after that the flow was steady, (I had 4 courses)! The drinks and good, nice local wine list, really fresh seafood cooked just right, what can i say! Not the least expensive place around but certainly worth it.
Pros: wine, food, and great service
Cons: a little pricey, but worth it

Thank you for taking the time to read my review, however I believe that the lack of focus on your menu is pretty apparent. Other issues inclued the unbalance of flavors- for example when I ate there for my last time you all had crabcakes on mashed potatoes with mango salsa- this sounds horrible- and it doesn't help that you have to follow the act of the previous chefs who made the most impeccible crabcakes in Washington State. Perhaps you need to re-evaluate what theme or style you are attempting before you write your next menu.
It also is quite funny that the last good reviewer has vitually the same screenname as the chef!
My partner and I frequent Sip now and I am much happier- better food, great wine list and reasonable prices.
Pros: John and Tim
Cons: the food!!

We were here over the weekend and had a great experience. We have been there on numerous occasions for the no corkage fee Sunday's, which is just a nice little reason to go there on Sunday vs. a similar restaurant on any other night - we save quite a bit. We sat on the outdoor deck this time around - I must say - it was wonderful, warm service and great food. Our servers name was Tim - great guy. The owner was there as well - it was just a great experience. The food was wonderful - from the crab cakes to the Iris Salad and the grilled lamb and ribeye - we were fully impressed...
Pros: Great food, ambience, service
Cons: a little hard to find, but well worth it...

There was so much that went so wrong I could write for hours...Let's see...Arrogant service: These guys act like they are doing you a favor. Do I want to be treated in this way? No, and certainly not for the food served up at this place. The food: pretentious entrees with "unusual" build outs. Gourmet? Hardly! The ridiculous imagination of one not actually trained in any classical sense. Recommendation: TWO SOLID THUMBS DOWN! Save your time, money, and calories!
Cons: Bad food, bad service

My wife and I pitch up for an early dinner. We are the first to arrive, the only customers. We are seated in the back, right next to the kitchen door! We ask if it's possible to be moved to a different table and the hostess reacts as if we are asking something untoward. I point out the restaurant is empty and she immediately responds that we, "should have made a reservation!" We sit there for about 10 minutes. When no waiter bothered to stop by in that time we made a move to leave. This was an atrocious experience. I strongly suggest you give this place a miss. The service is completely unacceptable.
Cons: Rude staff, terrible service DO NOT PATRONISE THIS ESTABLISHMENT

We live in Bellevue, near a lot of great restaurants, but we frequently travel the distance to Issaquah's Gilman Village just to get a meal at the Iris Grill. We love the rapid, friendly service and charismatic staff, and the food is always excellent and worth the trip down I-90. I always feel like I am genuinely welcome and appreciated as a customer. My relatives all love the place, and we often gather there for special occasions. I would recommend it to anyone I know, and I further recommend it to all of you who read this. Go check this place out!
