Yes, there may be a long wait at Koki's BUT take a good look around! There is one sushi chef for the entire restaurant. If you pay any attention, Endo is non-stop serving customers at both at the sushi bar and teppan side. That is the price you pay for the excellent sushi that Endo prepares/serves. This sushi bar is definately the place for sushi lovers to go. If you want fast food, then go to KFC or any other fastfood places & don't bother coming here - you'll only be making a fool of yourself in front of the regulars who appreciate the good quality of sushi at a friendly, clean atmosphere of Koki's sushi bar.
Pros: Fresh Sushi, Endo, Pricing
Cons: Not enough Endos

upon entering the restaurant, i noticed there was a citysearch rating of 10...i thought to myself that this could not be possible and checked online and sure enough it has a rating of 8.9, still really high if you ask me. why the sleeping bags in my title? well if you plan on eating there, plan on being there all night. in the 2 hours we were there, we got 2 pieces of fish...oh yeah and a bowl of edamame! the sushi chef is definately friendly, but i think he needs some serious help. i suggest, DO NOT GO FOR THE SUSHI...the fish tasted a bit funny...i would give the KFC we had after this crazy experience a 10. thanks for reading!
Pros: KFC a few steps away
Cons: short handed

Its hard to find a nice teppan restaurant that serves great sushi in irvine. Koki is one of those retaurant. Koki serves good teppan and awesome sushi. Their teppan chef are well trained and their waiter and waitresses are polite. They have different variety of sushi and are always fresh. The only cons about this restaurant is that their dinner menu can be kind of pricey. Other than that, its worth a visit.

I want to make it clear that I had mention on my last comments. Other places rush me to pay my food bill NOT Koki. Every time, this Japanese consultant comes into town, he enjoys sushi in Little Tokyo for lunch or dinner. This time, I take him to Koki before he goes back to Japan. He loves the sushi. He told me the sushi is fresh and even better than he had in Little TOKYO .....THANKS ENDO .... you make it fresh ... We'll be back
Pros: clean, freindly, services

As sushi lovers and trying every sushi resturant here in Orange County as well as LA County, I finally found a place that my husband and I could have quality sushi as well as a fun and entertaining experience. Endo, our chef, was amazing!!!!! He created his works of art by melding the appetizing and the eye appealing gourmet that satified both our tummies and eyes throughout the night. I wouldn't want to go anywhere else!!!!!!!
Pros: Entertaining , Excellent Service, Quality Sushi

I don't know what militarychow is talking about. First of all, I'm a very picky eater. I've tried various sushi establishments throughout the OC, only to leave disappointed. When I was introduced to Koki's about 3 months ago, I fell in love with the place. I have been going there at least once (sometimes twice) a week...
Koki's is Chinese owned... there's nothing wrong with that. Though Chinese owned, the sushi chef is Japanese and has been doing this since his childhood. They receive a fresh shipment of fish every other day... so to say that the sashimi isn't fresh is ridiculous.
One thing that militarychow is right on is the wait. There is only one sushi chef. If you've got the time to spare, I suggest trying this place out. If you're short on time, try your luck elsewhere.
Pros: Fresh Sushi, Service, Inexpensive
Cons: The Wait (at times), No big parties (4+)

My Girlfriend And I Wanted To Get Some Sushi One Night. So We Searched For A Place Close By In Irvine. This Place Had A %10 Discount So We Decided To Give It A Try. Big Mistake! This Is A Chinese Owned & Operated Japanese Restaurant. There Was Only One Sushi Chef, So It Took Awhile Till We Got All The Sushi We Ordered. The Sashimi Was Not Fresh At All. I'm Not Sure About The Hibachi Part of The Restaurant. But Do Yourself A Favor And Don't Go To Koki's For The Sushi.

I've been to a dozen or so great sushi places in Orange County and LA County, and Koki is by far the best. I've been there twice this week, and plan to make that a habit :-) The sushi chef, Endo (spelling?), is very friendly and welcoming, and has a habit of shelling out extra pieces of sashimi "just to keep you coming back," as he says. The tuna nigiri is to die for.
Pros: Excellent sushi, Inexpensive, Not too crowded
