I love this place!!! I dine at Britta's for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Food is always amazing and very fresh! It is an Orange County Gem ... I have seen Britta shopping at the Farmer's Market for her food!!! Wow! Almost every time I am there she will stop by and say"HI"!
Let's see .. I love the Benedicts, pancakes with a side of bacon and homemade granola for breakfast. Ohhhh and Huevos Rancheros! Lunch ... BBQ Pork and Monte Cristo - best Caesar Salad! Dinner .... Best Roasted Chicken. Pork Tenderloin with spatzel and Hanger Steak. Great wine list- very unique. Prices are very reasonable ... High recommend for people that know and love food.
Pros: Great Food
Cons: Difficult parking

I thought this place was ok. Its really cute inside with nice decorations, but I wasnt all that impressed. The staff was pretty friendly, but overall I dont know that I would reccommend it.

I will certainly come back to this little hidden gem - although I'm surprised it wasn't more crowded considering its proxomity to the UC Irvine Campus. The food was fabulous and the service was good. It's a little pricey for being so close to a college campus but maybe that's a good thing to keep the crazy college crowd at bay.

I can't believe some of these reviews! People just must not know good food when they come across it! The menu here changes with the seasons, so you are guaranteed the freshest ingredients! What more can you ask for! Yes some things may take longer to prepare then others, but they have a wood burning oven that slowly cooks meat to perfection! Well worth the wait! I would much rather wait a little while longer and enjoy a nice glass of wine (the wine list is amazing as well), then feel rushed and pushed out the door! If you want fast, unfriendly service, don't dine here because it is for sure an excellent dining experience!

I have been a customer of Britta's cafe since she was in Balboa. Britta is OC's answer to Chez Panisse and Alice Waters in Berkeley, she uses only the freshest ingredients and really understands flavor and cooking techniques. Her service staff and management are very attentive and personable, they always make me feel at home. Britta also hosts special wine dinners and has a book clus that rocks!!
I recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for excellent food and service.
Pros: A unique dining experience in a sea of usual.
Cons: Bad parking

Live in the area and decided to give it a whirl for Sunday brunch, definitely dissappointed. Breakfast plates were quite pricey. I just got 2 eggs and ham (comes with a small portion of breakfast potatoes) for $10, and I have to say that was definitely on the low side of the menu, went up to $16ish for breakfast plates. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing but I thought it wasn't worth the money at all. Eggs were decently cooked, ham was thick cut which I liked, but salty, and breakfast potatoes were tasteless. Boyfriend got the pancakes I think for $8 which were nice and fluffy but just really tasteless. If the prices weren't so steep, I would recommend a trip, but as for me, I didn't think it was worth it and won't be going. If you're looking for Sunday brunch, I would recommend Cafe R&D. Prices are comparable but the food is SO much better and definitely worth it.
Pros: cute interior decor
Cons: overpriced, mediocre food

I am a regular at this quaint cafe and I have no complaints. Those who say the menu is "stunted" I believe doesn't know a good menu when they see one. With breakfast ranging from a Britta's Beny (an eggs benedict with avocado and tomato instead of Canadian bacon) to house made raisin walnut french toast with sliced bananas I would say that the menu is quite expansive. They use only the freshest of ingrediants and I have to add they actually use REAL maple syrup rathe than the cheap kind from IHOP. Parking in my opinon is just fine and if its not right in the front the 1 minute walk won't kill you.

This is a pretentious upscale place next to a university --- talk about bad location. To top it off, the food isn't that great either, and the portions are very small. An omelette costs approx $8, and three small crab cakes will set you back $13.
The atmosphere sucks too because its empty most of the time.

Britta's Caffe is located in the deep heart of Irvine University Center across from the University of California of Irvine. The food here is typical of most post-modern French/American cuisine. One or two good dishes. However the price is up there and locating this venue is a task in itself. Ok. Parking is adequate.
