My favorite time to eat at China Garden is around noon for their amazing Dim Sum!
They have workers push around the Dim Sum carts for you to choose whatever you want! The best thing is that its all super fresh from the kitchen and super delicious as well!
The only down side is that they're so popular you'll often have to wait anywhere from 15-30 minutes to get seated when you're going for Dim Sum, but it's totally worth the wait!

very average dim sum, and i really don't know why many people go here to eat dim sum on sat and sun.
Pros: not many pros
Cons: wait time, service

Live King Crab or Spot Prawns? This place has everything without driving to Monterey Park.
The Service is OK and most cooked dishes are above average.

I went to china gardens on the weekend for dimsum. so crowded, we waited outside in the rain because of the huge line. its a hectic atmosphere at the time. i am not a fan of dim sum. they serve odd foods, like chicken foot and pig nose. i ordered the kung pao chicken, which was great. try there sesame buns with sweet pea filling. atmosphere is a typical chinese place.

Very good dim sum, esepcially for Irvine! Can get very crowded on weekends so show up early and be prepared to wait. Another tip, try to not get the side room since the cart service to those rooms is slow and you will often be offered stale dim sum that was rejected by everyone else. The steamed buns are great and if you want to splurge ask for the whole crab (not a dim sum item...but worth the value)

China Garden serves up the best dim sum in Irvine. They usually have a wait on weekends for dim sum, so arrive early. This is as authentic as it gets in these parts of town. You can sample a ton of traditional dim sum dishes (chicken feet, har gao, shumai, etc.) and just point to whatever looks good. I believe you can also order off the regular menu for lunch. I've heard good things about their regular menu (besides dim sum), such as king crab and other seafood dishes.
