Took my car in for a brake job on all 4 wheels, including replacing the rotors and pads and, less than 3,000 miles, started hearing loud 'grinding' noises. Took the car to another mechanic who stated that there is no way that any work was performed.
Problem when dealing with issues such as this is how do we, the consumer, prove that the work wasn't performed. Even though the new mechanic took pictures of the old parts, I can't prove that the work was not performed. End result: they took my over $400 and I ended up nothing from them, not even an apology.

I was referred to Golden Wrench in Irvine by a friend as my car was misfiring and stalling at all intersections. when I towed my car in I spoke with Richard the manager. He was very personable and attentive to detail. He charge me $90 dollars for a diagnostic test. He found a loose vacuum hose causing the problem, he repaired that at no additional charge and did not try to sell me any bogus repairs.
This is the most honest and professional automotive repair facility I have ever dealt with in all of my years of driving.
I strongly recommend Golden Wrench Automotive - Irvine in anyone in need of automotive repairs.

Pros: Work was done quickly
Cons: Didn't repair the car.

I took my older car in for repair. The cost they gave me was $700. Which was way over priced and I knew it. But I was stuck and it appeared to be a nice place and I figured they'd take care of it. Was I ever wrong. I didn't even get the car home without it overheating, a completely different problem than i had to begin with. I returned the car and they wanted to charge me an additional $400 to fix it. The manager 'richard' claimed he was trying to help me out by charging me $1,100 but really he was not at all helpful, argumentative and arrogant and really just ripping me off. He didn't budge, so I had to take my car out of there in no better condition than i brought it in and out $700!! Terrible customer service, terrible place. Don't be an idiot like me, stay far away from this place!!
Pros: none
Cons: terible attitude and customer service. arrogant and belittling.

I was way overcharged for a waterpump repair. $700! Then the car overheated on the way home, which is not what i took it in for and had not had that problem before. I took it back and they wanted to charge me another $400, which according to them was a nice gesture, to fix it. The manager 'richard' seemed at first to be a nice guy, but when problems arose, he was not helpful, arrogant, unreasonable, and unwilling to admit fault and unwilling to budge. So I wound up taking my car out in the same condition i brought it, undriveable, and this company seemed to be perfectly okay with that. Bad customer service, bad management, a totally disappointing experience and a rip off. Don't be an idiot like me, stay far away from this place!

Can't imagine how this shop got on the "best" list. They over-charge and take advantage of women who aren't repair saavy. If you need repairs in Irvine, go to the Culver 76 Station.

Service was very friendly, but this shop will rip you off. After tune-up and oil change I had to point out loose battery terminal. The battery cable connector (special order) cost was supposed to be around $15... Without my authorization they ended up replacing both positive and negative and the total charge was almost $100. I had a friend look at my car because it's smoking on start-up and apparently my valve seals are worn out... He said they should have notice this in the cars tune-up and inspection.
I would STRONGLY advise avoiding this shop. They are incompetent at best, and probably dishonest as well.
I paid the price - so you won't have to.
Good luck.
