There is NO better REAL mexican food in this city that can compare to Acapulco Joe's. A lot of us remember Joe visting with us when he had the Diner across the street. His mexican food is totally best. I have been going to this place for 34 years. We usually go when there is something to celebrate. (or we think of something to celebrate and go to Joe's) It's the queso to the Joe style tacos that make it. Anyone that disagrees needs to live with the new black tacos at Taco Bell and has never visited Mexico. Because this place is ROCKS. Long live Joe and Kate Smith!!!
Pros: Best darn mexican food in Indy
Cons: Not any on the westside of town

I absolutely love this place. While I enjoy the downtown location on Mass Ave., I do prefer the College Ave. location for its elbow room. There is no such thing as an "item to avoid" on the Yats menu...it's ALL good. My favorite, chili-cheese crawfish etouffee, is always there. The vegetarian items are absolutely delicious (this from a confirmed anything-a-tarian). Owner Joe is a hoot and always makes the rounds while working in the kitchen AND managing staff. The servings are giant from the money, and if you're lucky, Joe just might give you a freebie to try. I'm a spice wimp, but I love that they have any and all hot sauces, from Indonesian Sambal Oelek to to Cholula's and anything in between. Wimps like me can have the food as presented; if you're adventurous or knowledgeable in hot sauce-ology, you can really go for it.
Pros: service, servers, clients, flavors & textures of food, owner, ambience, VALUE!!!...need I add?
Cons: on-street parking can be scarce, wish they were open later & had a downtown delivery-only kitchen for businesses & late nights

This is THE place to get a frosty mug of homemade rootbeer and a basket of onion rings! My personal favorite is the pizza burger with all the fixings. With the old school car hops and lights on for service, it really reminds me of a 1950s style place. I have never had a bad meal there, and always look forward to going back. Even though the pizza burger is my fave, sometimes you just have to get one of their delicious coney dogs or corndogs. I can't get enough!
Pros: Root Beer, Onion Rings, all the food
Cons: None

To eat a White Castle burger is like falling in love. It may hurt later, but the excitement and experience is well worth it. Yes, they are greasy and that Crave Case might not sit well in your stomach. Yes, they're a little nasty just to look at. But yes, you will experience overwhelming joy and happiness when you cram one of these little gems in your gob. In short, I love White Castle.
I can't believe I just wrote a review of White Castle.
Pros: Everything; plus who doesn't want to dine in a castle?
Cons: There isn't one in my house.

Vistited The Main Event last week on the Thursday $2 u-call-it night. The crowds were a little thick but the service and drinks were still good. The live entertainment was pretty good also - Went back on Saturday night, which turned out to be Karaoke night which was very good as well. A little less crowded, but still a good time. I will go back again, and I reccomend this place to most age groups ... Mixed aged wise, but obviously the higher end crowd of the west side.
Pros: Good Value, Good Entertainment, Good Food
Cons: Smoke

Now granted we have only been here a year, but we moved from LA where we had 23 Mexican joints within walking distance. This is the only place that we've tried so far here that could compete out west. Fast friendly service, good prices, great location, and amazing food. I had the carnitas and it was some of the best pork I've ever had. My wife had the asada and it was pretty good too. The chips were fresh and hot. All around great place. My only wish is that they had margaritas, but a good cold Bohemia went well with dinner.
Pros: Food, location, Food, service
Cons: No Margaritas, not next door so I could go every day

I'm not sure why another reader felt that Neon Johnny's has bad service. I have been a regular for years, and it is by far my favorite sports bar in Indy. I have always had great service there. Their pizza is incredible (and at half-price on Saturdays and Mondays, it's clearly the best deal in town). They also have good daily drink specials. Their menu items are a definite cut above any other sports bars I have visited--delicious, with more variety and sophistication in preparation. I live downtown and could go to many closer sports bars, but this one is worth the long drive to the north side!

Oh my gosh! I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE Amici's! My husband and I have been going there since we were dating, and our kids love it, too! The mushroom crostini is out of this world, and the shrimp diavlo is wonderful!! Love those capers, shrimp, brocolli, and pieces of garlic!! I've tried dishes like this at other fancy shmancy restaurants and have been sorely disappointed, as no one makes shrimp diavlo like Amici's!!
Pros: Friendly Service, Value, Funky Atmosphere, Awesome Menu Items
Cons: avoid the "patio"
