Pros: Great food - especially the salsa and bean dip!

This is one of my favorite casual dining restaurants. The food is good, reasonably priced, and in portions that fill you up. One of my criteria for good Mexican food is a good margarita and this restaurant serves a great margarita on the rocks. The decor is not impressive, but definitely gives that neighborhood feeling. The staff are very friendly and provide great service.

Indeed the bean dip they bring with the chips and salsa is really good but the food here has been consistently too salty. I've eaten here about 4 or 5 times because the kids like the bean dip but Its not my first choice for Mexican food. The service is always very good. The seating is a little strange for parties larger than 4. (we have 4 kids so we are always at least 6) The overall ambiance is average. If I owned this restaurant, I would gut it and re-do the layout so it was a little more open and friendly. When entering the restaurant, it feels like you are taking a trip through a labyrinth of some dungeon. With all the really outstanding Mexican restaurants we have in OC, I'm surprised this one is as popular as it seems. Good, but nothing special.

First of all the food is delicious.the salsa is not normal the salsa is great ask any local in huntington beach my friend takes it back to las vegas with her every time she comes to town.I love the don ramon tacos, but try some of the specials the chef runs, I had pollo asado with a tomatillo salsa it was great with the whole beans yummy. This restaurant has a flavor of its own most definitley this is not a el torito or don joses yuk! I hate chain restaurants they all taste the same. They are doing something right all the cops eat there and I have seen mark mc guire many times. its nice nobody bothers him. die hard don ramons fan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My boyfriend and I headed here after having the hostess at Mario's tell us there was a 30min wait for a party of two and we'll go straight here in the future! We were seated immediately and given the traditional chips and salsa, but Don Ramon's also gives out a delicious bean dip. It looks like they have large dip bowls too for larger parties, so even if it's just two of you go for the big bean dip... I guarantee you'll still scrape the bottom looking for more.
The entree sizes are excellent, a burrito is easily the size of a guinea pig and I could only finish half of my super stuffed quesadilla. Skip the fried ice cream if you eat late like we did... I'm not certain, but I think they're made earlier and kept in the freezer because the cornflakes were stale on our dessert.
The restaurant has only one credit card machine so when we were ready to leave we had to take our check to the couter and wait in line for the host to run the card.
Pros: Service, parking, bean dip
