First we had to sit in the bar area with children (self seating). Then our drinks were watered down and we had to request that our drinks be replaced. Two people in out party ordered fish and it was over cooked and again we had to order something else. I would not recomend Duke's nor will I ever rerturn.

Right on the beach and across from Main St., Duke's has a great location. It's always packed in the summer and usually busy throughout the year. I recently went there for a friend's birthday. They couldn't accommodate for a party our size (30 people) at one table so we had 4 separate tables. When we arrived, all the tables were reversed, 3 together and one on the other side of a wall. You couldn't even see the fourth table. At first we only sat at the 3 tables that were together, a couple people were running late, so they gave the last table away and the manager said that he would give us another table in a few minutes. After the rest of the party arrived, we asked if we could have the tables adjacent to out 3 tables and his response was "do whatever you want" and he walked away. I understand that we weren't the easiest group to deal with, but I didn't expect that response from a manager. The food was ok, but overpriced. The mai tais are good, but I think you are really paying for the view, which was great. They have there own parking lot Valet or $1.50/hour at the machine.
Pros: Location
Cons: Food, Managers

I was here Saturday 6/21/08 and the palce wasn't pack. It was about a 10 minute wait around 1:30 PM so we got seated right away. The view and ambience was fantastic. You can see the surf and the volleyball players down the beach from where we wre seating. The price is reasonable too. i think our bill came out tobe $52 for 2 adults and two kids. My wife hat the Mahi-Mahi tacos= $8.50 or so and I had the Tuna sandwich= $9.00 as the kids had their mini-meals. I loved their Ice-tea, kind of flowery with a sweet lemon type was added to my ice tea. I ca not place the taste of it right now but I would go back again just for the ice tea. The mahi-mahi tacos was delectable, as it was non-breaded but broiled. I would come back here again if I had a chance to.

This restaurant is in a perfect location for watching the surf and the volleyball players. It is usually crowded for dinner, so be prepared to wait. I prefer to go for lunch when it is easier to get a table with a view and a good salad. Dinner fair is O.K., but is secondary to the view. The staff are very friendly and professional.

This place is always packed. You better make a reservation if you don't want to wait for 2 hours or more to get a table. The food is good and the atmosphere is really nice. It's fun to look at all the Surf City memorabilia all over the restaraunt. The pier location makes it great to take visitors to. Gives them the turisty feel they will be comfortable with.
The food is really good too. I hear the steaks are great, though I always go with seafood while I'm there.

Duke's has a great Sunday brunch that's affordable. The food has a lot of variety, and a cool layout. The best part is eating this great food while looking through the giant windows to the ocean, or sitting on the outdoor patio. My favorite part of the brunch is the waffle station. They are cooked perfectly, and don't sit out long (as things sometimes do in brunches) so they taste fresh and great.
