This was the worst experience my daugters and I have ever had anywhere! My daughter called on Friday to make an appointment on Saturday. When we arrived we had my 6 month old grandson with us. The moment we entered the lobby area with the stroller Becky (or Betty?)behind the counter immediately said "we do not allow children in here". My daugher asked why she didn't tell her ths on the phone yesterday and Becky said I tell everyone that every day and continued to smile a smerky little smile bowing her head up and down. We had come as far as Friendswood and Galveston. Another employee came up and said that is there policy. I can understand they have rules, but they way they treated us was disgusting! Becky practically called my daughter a liar, then they asked if we wanted to reschedule, I said absolutely not, we are cancelling! If they would have handled it another way, like apologize, or suggest that maybe they forgot to tell us, then we may have rescheduled, but they are very snobbish and I would never, ever recommend that place to anyone! The only reason why I rated this one star is because there is no option to rate it NEGATIVE.
Pros: NOTHING
Cons: RUDE EMPLOYEES

My niece sheduled an appointment for her bridal gown and one for her "10" bridesmaid. When we arrived to the door with my 6 month nephew, we weren't even greeted with an Hello, they stopped short of the door closing behind and said Children are not allowed. Very very rude and snoppish! my niece asked why didn't they tell her on the phone when she made the appointment, and they said they most certainly did tell her, I understand that there are rules, but not one of the salepeople there even tried to be nice about it, just plain RUDE. I would never recommend this place to anyone! There's too many other bridal places where customers are treated with politness!

Cons: RUDE RUDE Salepeople

So my mom was a little weary of making an appointment there after reading all the reviews, but after my terrible experiences that Saturday I didn't think it could get worse... and I was right, it only got better!
I was on time for my appointment, however I had been trying to sell my car all week and the guy finally showed up just as I had arrived at WBD and met me in the parking lot. WBD was very understanding and let me run out to make the transaction. My assistant was very nice, and pointed out different things about different lines, and designers as she gave me a tour of the store. She was very knowledgeable and made me feel very comfortable (see my terrible review of the horror of a sales lady at David's Bridal).
As a plus size bride finding a dress that I liked, made me look good and was affordable was a big challenge. But she brought me several different styles to try on after listening to what I had in mind. And I found the perfect dress.. the only dress that had made me smile all day! She was not pushy at all, and gave me some great advice and tips and trick.. I just cannot say enough good things about her.
So I decided I loved the Dress.. but they had just gotten it in that morning and my assistant was not sure the manager would sell it off the floor.. but she did! She said it was definitely MY Dress and I should take it.. the best part... the Price! and I also got a discount for buying at my first visit.
So my advice to you is check things out despite people's experience... I was ready to give up at the end of the day Saturday.. but this 4pm appointment turned out to be a wedding saver!
Pros: knowledgeable Friendly Staff
Cons: Pushy bride there hogging the big mirrored walk way

My experience with WBD hasn't been a great one but hasn't necessarily been horrible either. I was looking for a particular designer - St. Patrick, a Pronovias line - and WBD was the only salon that carried them. I first tried on dresses in July 2008 for my May wedding. I loved all the St. Patrick and Pronovias hip-hugging gowns, but as an average size 12 woman, I could not fit in their size 6 and size 8 sample gowns. They did not have a single gown in a size larger than 8 in these designers. Not everyone is model thin! I wanted to cry. I went back a second time to try to find something else with my mom and narrowed my search down to two dresses that I didn't love but would work so I returned a third time with my bridesmaids to pick my gown. WBD charged me a $50 fee since this was my third visit...and of course did NOT tell me before I showed up that I would be expected to pay this. But of course, it would be deducted from the price of the gown. I ended up purchasing my gown that day and was promised the dress would arrive in December 2008 or January 2009.
After several phone calls in January 2009, I finally talked to this HORRIBLE woman, Susha or something, who snottily told me my dress was to be shipped mid-February and I would be notified when it arrived at the store. They had apparently waited three weeks after I ordered the dress to place the order with the designer. I started calling again in February to find out where my dress was. Finally, on March 2 I called and found out it was at the store. They didn't call me at all.
The alterations woman said they needed 6-8 weeks for alterations and wanted to schedule my appointment for March 13...5 weeks before the wedding. I tried explaining that this would only give them 5 weeks for alterations...she didn't get it. I made the appointment so I could at least try it on and find out it needed so we could take it somewhere else. Luckily, it fit perfect and only needed a small bustle for the sash that came off the back of the dress. She charged me $27 for that.
I had my final fitting last Saturday, April 18. I stood around for half an hour while the alterations woman ran around tending to other customers and their prom dresses. No offense...I'm waiting around in a $2000 gown...I think the prommers can wait. She finally got time to tend to me, told me it looked great, then told me to take it off. She was there for all of 2 minutes.
I'm picking the gown up this Friday from their pressing department whom does not speak English and have read that I will be expected to pay $12 for a garment bag which makes me very unhappy.
The plus - I have a beautiful gown and can't wait to wear it. The downside - I had to jump through the appropriate hoops at a store 45 minutes away to wear it.
I would really recommend going somewhere else.
Pros: Large selection
Cons: Sample sizes, fees

I came in to try on and maybe purchase a second wedding gown. When I first came in I waited a good 10-15 mins before my consultant was ready to help me. There was no one in the store, it was a thursday afternoon!
When I finally got a consultant I explained to her that this is my second wedding dress since I ended up HATING my first dress and really want to think it over before jumping the gun again. She started to show me around and asked me what kind of dresses I have in mind and what I would like to try on.
The store is wonderful. It's really pretty and the dresses are nice and oranganized by designers. I told her what I was looking for and she took me to a certain designer and then asked about my budget and walked me to another designer. She kept picking dresses that that nothing to do with what I describe that I wanted.
We ended up with 2 dresses in the dressing room and I didn't like any of them! She told me to wait for her as she left to go look for more dresses. She kept coming back with dresses that I didn't even want to LOOK at, but she kept saying that the hangers kills the dresses and begged me to try it on and if I didn't like it she would take it off.
At the end I found the dress I wanted, but she told me that if I bought it then and there she would give me the 1st time fitting discount and if I didn't buy it that day then I would lose the opportunity of the discount.
Being that it was my second dress, I wanted to sleep on it and make sure that this will be the dress. She told me that if I come back for a 3rd fitting she should have to charge me for a fee so if I come back another day I should be ready to buy the dress.
I ended up not coming back and getting the dress at Ventura's.
Pros: alot of gowns to choose from, very nice consultants
Cons: pushy, really wants to make a sale

When first arrival at the store, they have a very vast assortment of dresses. The staff is friendly and helpful HOWEVER, I inquired as to the difference in price on a gown that came in either silk or taffeta. Since I liked both fabrics, I figure I would go for the cheaper of the two. The salesperson/manager (who is the daughter of the owner) claimed there was no difference in price- aproximately, $1859.00.
First off, after research, most retailers sell the dress around $1500.00 IN SILK.
Secondly, I found the taffeta dress at other retailers as HALF the price of the silk dress.
Had I not researched this, they would have pocketed a minimum of $600 OFF THEIR ALREADY RAISED PRICES! I DO NOT LIKE BEING LIED TO SO THEY CAN POCKET MONEY! They just lost A LOT of business! My cousin is getting married next yr, as well as a few other friends who will inform other friends. So a minimum of 5 women from just me, will not be going to this store.
I highly recommend Venturas! Their staff is very helpful and they are honest about their prices.
Pros: Vast selection
Cons: Dishonest and will cheat you out of your money

My daughter purchased her gown at Weddings by Debbie in Sept. of 2007 for her Oct. 2008 wedding. Their selections were excellent. Their accessories over priced. You have to sign your life away when purchasing the gown. She was measured at that time for her gown size. When she went for her first fitting the gown was totally out of proportion for her. They pinned the gown and unwillingly made some changes my daughter requested. When she went to the front to sign the paper (yet again) for the alterations she was charged over $400.00! She talked it over with me and also a co-worker who provided her with the name of a wonderful seamstress in Houston and after some consideration my daughter called Weddings by Debbie and asked them not to do the alterations but to leave the pins in. she was told she would be charged for the pinning ($54.00) AND they wouldn't leave the pins in as it was their work product. So we paid $54.00 for the pins but couldn't keep the work! She took her gown to a seamstress who specializes in wedding gowns and was charged one-half what Weddings by Debbie charged and she made changes that were never suggested to my daughter at Weddings by Debbie to make the gown more proportional to her petite size. Overall, I would recommend Weddings by Debbie for their large stock and wide range of prices but definitely take the gown elsewhere for alterations...and oh yes, they charge you 12.00 for a garment bag after you have spent all that money on your gown, veil, jewerly etc. I purchased a blazer in a chain retail store and was given a garment bag for free. They should reconsider that fee!!!
Pros: Large selection
Cons: After care
