The Alley Theatre is an awesome place for everyone. I really enjoy watching on the plays they put on.
If you go on day of the show, the tickets are half-price. This does not include Friday and Saturday shows. They only take cash and checks so be sure to have something other than your credit card.
Tickets don't cost a whole lot so you can watch it more than once a year!

This repertory thetre has won several Tony's under the direction of Greg Boyd, the artistic director. Sure they do A Christmas Carol too many times, but if you want to see good theatre with good acting, and great mise en scene, this is the place. In a city with relatively little good theatre going on, and fewer equity theatres, it is surprising that a theatre company of this calibre can be found in such a void. I recommend whatever is going on in the smaller arena stage -- usually the plays are edgier and more relevant that the big mainstage productions.

The Alley theater is the utmost in great performances. The best plays are given here, and they are entertaining and bold. The ambiance of getting downtown in the theater district of Houston is worth the inconvenience of parking(which is a little pricy). But getting all dressed up and having a night on the town is well worth it. The ambiance is so remarkable, you just have to experience.

Support the performing arts by catching a play at the Alley Theater. I saw one called "Cantinflas" about the famous Mexican actor/comedian a few years ago, and although I had difficulty following everything they said in Spanish, I loved it. The room I was in was small and cozy, making me feel as though I was on stage with the actors. Hurry up and get your tickets now.

The Alley Theatre is a perfect place to bring small children. The live theater caters to children. We took our daugther and 3 month old son to Pratt's Poetry Jam. This show was awesome. The execution by Pratt was great and the children really enjoyed it. The theater was very small, which made the show very intimate. This show was also very interactive with Pratt calling on members of the audience and using volunteers. I hope to take our children to other shows soon.
