Rockin' Robin is a wonderful guitar store filled with all of the equipment you would need to make beautiful sound. The guitars are all really good quality and sound. The employee's attitudes are helpful and excited that you are going into the music field and that you might be the next big thing. The atmosphere is sort of like a club, because at least 20 other people are playing some instrument.

It's always worth it to check out this bookstore if you are shopping in Rice Village. It's quite big with two levels of used books and music. Sometimes, it's a hit and other times, a miss. The trick is to go without a particular title in mind. Half-Price Books will also buy back your books. If you are interested in everything from Gardening for Dummies to chiller thrillers, then this place can save you a lot of money.

CHUCK AND CREW ARE THE BEST . IF THEY DONT HAVE IT THEY WILL GET IT FOR YOU. I HAVE SHOPPED ALL OVER HOUSTON MUSIC STORES AND ALSO WORKED AT ANOTHER PRETTY COOL MUSIC STORE BUT KNOW ONE HAS EVER BEEN ABLE TO GET THE CRAZY MUSIC I LIKE , BUT CHUCK CAN!

I love Half Priced Booked! The one on Egret Bay Blvd is not the best one I've ever been in (I love to stop by the one on Montrose!), it's still one of my favorite book places to browse in. It doesn't have that cold, brainwashed retail feel of the gigantic chain bookstores and you really never know what you're going to run across there. My husband even loves this place. And when the books at our house get out of control, we round some up and sell them back (and then buy more to take home!)

I like going into that store and not feeling any pressure on buying anything.
They have a huge cd collection so you can find what you are looking for.
The staff is very pleasant and have a good music knowledge. They found me an album just by signing him a part of the song... WOW..
I recommend you go there for all your music needs.

Obscure music and movies can be found on the shelves of Cactus ready to be rented or even bought. The atmosphere is hip and contemporary, but still reserved enough for an old war veteran to rent, "The Bridge on the River Kwai."

I enjoy listening to music very much and the competitive prices on the world's music is fine for me. I myself prefer a store that would give me an even broader and wider selection than SoundWaves.

My husband and I used this place to rent forty chairs! They made the entire process so easy! We got them the day before the wedding and my mom returned them about two days after. We got the regular fold out chairs but they did the trick! Very sturdy and nice prices. I definitely recommend them!

Another wonderful music store. Well for all the nostalgy people in us, you will find some old records remembering you all good memories.
I've found some really cheap records that I tought I would never find anymore.
The store is a little small, but they have great stuff and great employee.
I recommend it if you are looking for some old records. Make sure to lookup to see if there not too much scratch on it.

Houston Stringworks, located on Jameel is like stepping into Willy Wonka's Chocolate factory with out the oompaloompas! Everything you could ever want or need for a stringed instrument's is here.
The staff is excellent, they are more than willing to answer the dumbest question for the newest musical momma and they make sure that you get what you need with out making you feel like you got more than you wanted. Word of caution, These are HIGH end instruments, and like any luxury item they come with the luxury price tag. Thats not to say that you wont find reasonable priced items there as well. You can get the most commonly required beginners book for Orchestra for round about $6.50. Thats a little higher than some other shops i visit, but not to out of line. This store is geared more for professional (price and instrument quality) but a beginner would not feel out of place
