More
The Orange Show Foundation for Visionary Arts is an organization that is committed to preserving and promoting outsider art. The agency's crown jewel is the former home of Mr. Jeff McKissack. Mr. McKissack was a curious character who had odd obsessions and the motivation and technical skills to do something about it. He transformed his home into what he referred to as a shrine to oranges. The rest of the world calls him a folk artist or outsider artist, possibly unaware of the true import of his own work. What is left though is a charming little world alive with the imagination of a sincere old man. Everyone ought to see this unlikely masterpiece. Whatever you call it, it's very cool.

The Orange Show is just what it's name implies - one man's tribute to oranges! The citrus-themed folk art museum is dedicated to oranges, and a unique experience in the Bayou City. Kids love it, and it's a cheap and unusual place for adults to visit. Children get in free, with only a $1 admission for adults. The Orange Show Foundation also hosts events, so check in before you go to see what's happening. A great place to go if you're new to Houston, or just trying to find something unique to do in town.
