This locally owned restaurant has been a favorite in my native Houstonian family for over a decade. We always go there for special occasions (birthdays, graduation, etc.). Sure there are no reservations, so you have to wait, but they have a huge comfortable waiting area with a bar, popcorn to snack on, and plenty of TV's to watch, if you're not the type to converse with your party. The prices are high, but they would hardly be in business if they weren't, given the quality of the food and the entire experience. Once you're seated, every experience that I've ever had was extremely positive. The service is fast and friendly, the salad bar is so amazing it is difficult to leave room for the delectable steak. Be sure to try the cinnamon-honey butter on your rolls. The filet mignon wrapped in bacon with garlic butter is to die for, always perfectly cooked, and NOTHING like Saltgrass or any other chain steakhouse, whose steaks are like hamburgers in comparison. Grilled balsamic portabella and steamed asparagus with hollandaise are my favorite sides, but all the sides are good. They have the most amazing chocolate strawberries with romanoff sauce that I have ever tasted, but they are unfortunately seasonal and hard to catch. The cheesecake, 3-chocolate mousse cake, or fresh berries in a dark chocolate shell will always suffice in a pinch though. Long story short, I've been going there for years and will continue to go there for many more years, regardless of what any spoiled reviewers hem and haw about. Try it for yourself! Pros: Amazing steak, sides, salad bar, and service, Cons: The chocolate covered strawberries are SEASONAL! :(

The place is a tourist trap, plain and simply put. The steaks don't come near Pappas Brothers, Flemings, Capital Grill and etc. The salad bar is the only redeeming value. It's amazing the place does so well, except for the fact it plays off the TEXAS motif. Don't waste your time or money, you can get the same quality at Salt Grass for half the price. YES, I said Salt Grass, that Fertittatized chain that has a much personality as Jack in the Box. Pros: NONE Cons: PRICE, WAIT, QUALITY

This is the best restaurant that we have been to in Texas and the California Bay area. Yes, it will be a little more expensive, but it is of the highest Quality. It is hard to cook an almost 2 inch ribeye perfectly and they did two for us. The crew was great and quick to serve. I judge a restaurant's cleanliness by how clean their restrooms are. TTR was one of the best in the cleanliness, which was also confirmed by the cleanliness of the kitchen when we selected our steaks. Unfortunately, it is obvious that some people in these reviews are being negative about this restaurant because they do not agree with the politics of the owner, who has a morning talk show in Houston. Don't listen to those reviews. If you a want a great, family oriented, steakhouse experience, go to Taste of Texas and find out for yourself. If small children are a problem, this term should not be used. Apparently loud obnoxious salesmen are not a problem, because the table next to us carried on as much as they wanted. The angus steaks were cooked great!! I ordered the 16oz. ribeye with Texas Au Gratin Potatoes and green beans. Quality Food and huge quantity. They also have an awesome salad bar, very fresh. I visited Houston Saturday and ate there. I returned Sunday before I left town. Manager and staff were very welcoming and made you feel at home. The service and food was Top Shelf both days...World Class Staff!!! Pros: Best Steaks, Potatos, Green Beans and SERVICE IS #1. Cons: That there's not one in every city!!!

Simple and to the point....a group of us went to celebrate my Nephew's Birthday...it was very early 5:30.pm...They told us we would be on 2 different tables...no problem....What they did not tell us the Tables would be far away from each other....!!! We left....walked over to Papasitos...we were seated in about 20 min....Had a GREAT time. I will never return to Taste of Texas.... Pros: free coke Cons: they do not care!
