Let's face it, Ikea is really geared more towards apartment dwellers than those who pay mortgage. Their smaller-scale furniture at rock-bottom prices work well for people just starting out.
Their Houston store is Texas-sized and holds an impressive array of basic furniture as well as pretty much every home decor/accessory you can [or the Swedish mind] can think of. On top of that, their cafe is also pretty impressive - good food at Ikea prices, it's really a one-stop shop.
A caveat: obviously, because of their low prices, their quality is not always the best. Every now and then you end up with missing pieces or scratched furniture - but then, that's small trade-off for being able to furnish your whole bedroom for the price of one nightstand at West Elm...

I recently visited the Bath and Body Works outlet store in my area (at the Katy Mills Mall) and was so intrigued that I went online to see where there were other stores like this. I didn't find any, but in searching, I discovered that we also have a Bath and Body Works "Flagship" store at the Galleria Mall. The "Flagship" store concept for Bath and Body Works is apparently fairly new and because I love Bath and Body Works products so much, I have been wanting to check it out ever since.
I went for the first time yesterday and it was definitely an experience! When you walk in, the store is huge! It is probably about 3-4 times as big as a standard Bath and Body Works store. The front part of the store seemed to be made up of the newer products including a lot of aromatherapy items, new fragrances, and candles. The back of the store (toward the registers) is where all the standard favorites (lotions/body cream/body wash/etc.) are. In the middle and off to the side are quite a few body care products.
When we walked through the door, one of the sales associates immediately pointed out a new scented body lotion that they have come out with and let me smell it. Unlike other locations that I have been to, she didn't pressure me to put it on, though, which I appreciated it. When I have been to other Bath and Body Works locations, I feel like I have someone following me around the whole time pressuring me to buy products and I expected that here because on the website in the description of the Flagship stores it says: Where knowledgeable professionals work with you to determine exactly what products are right for you. In fact, no one followed me around at all, even though I browsed the store for quite awhile (it was so huge that I could have easily spent an hour, if not longer, just walking around looking at all the products).
The whole experience was a bit overwhelming for me. There were products and lines that I had never even heard of before and so it was a bit confusing. I went to the Bath and Body Works website and it appears that they have done quite a bit of expanding. One of the products that I found to be intriguing was the "Shimmer Body Lotion." I don't think I would try it myself, but if I was a little bit younger, I would consider it....
I did not buy anything here. I rarely pay full price for anything about Bath and Body Works because they always seem to have great sales, and at this store, they didn't seem to have the same sales that the "regular" stores have. I guess that's to be expected when you're in a mall like the Galleria, and I guess they just cater to a different sort of clientele.
They have "Flagship" stores in several different states and if you have one in your area, I would say that it's definitely worth checking out. You can access the list of Flagship stores by clicking on this link: http://www.bathandbodyworks.com/corp/index.jsp?page=flagshipStores
If you are planning on visiting a "Flagship" store near you sometime in the near future, I would recommend visiting the website and reading up on the new product lines so that you feel somewhat prepared when you walk in. If you do go visit a store, be prepared to spend time browsing. It was a fascinating experience!
