I really love the care they gave my dog over the past 12 years. When it came "time", they were extremely sympathetic and took great care to make the procedure as emotionally pain...

Editorial review from Citysearch 11/18/2012

I like this animal clinic a lot. The doctors switch up a lot lately. Dr. Murray is top notch. I wish I could only see her but she only does surgery and sees surgery patients. She doesn't BS with me and sugar coat things like a lot of doctors have in the past. When she put my little shihtzu to sleep, she was very compassionate and kind. Oh yeah, go there on Wednesdays and Thursdays, they have a bath special those days. more

Never again 2/20/2012

We went to this clinic because it was the only place we could get in the same day. That should have been a red flag. Doctor didn't even perform a regular office visit, and didn't introduce himself. Manhandled my dog and took her out of my sight to do a skin scraping. Will be making the 1 hour drive to our regular vet from now on. more

Over a decade of Great Service! 10/29/2010

I really love the care they gave my dog over the past 12 years. When it came "time", they were extremely sympathetic and took great care to make the procedure as emotionally painless as possible. Should I get a new pet I will definately be going back. more

Great Pet Care 6/29/2010

I love taking my pets to Neartown Animal Clinic and have been for years now. I couldn't trust anyone else with my pets. I have a 9 year old lab that loves to go. He jumps out of the car when we get there (before I can even turn it off). The staff and physicians are extremely wonderful and knowledgeable. I could not ask for better care of my loved ones!!!!!!!!? more

Pricey and Rude 4/20/2010

The previous poster is correct, the prices and costs at this vert are staggering. That is all the were correct about though. The vets are rude and quick to diagnose your animal. If they take there time it is only so they can talk you into buying more products or medication. I nearly fainted when I received my bill and when I questioned it, the girl at the front desk became rude and short. I understand that it is a busy and they are about making money, but I would think animal care and customer treatment should matter as well. \r \r For those that will read this and think I am one of those people that is just not happy anywhere that is untrue. I have found a vet now that I LOVE Montrose Veterinary Clinic. Just as nice, if not nicer, than Neartown and it is more affordable, better doctors, better staff, and better treatment. more

Clean facility, knowledgeable doctors 1/14/2010

Very close to my new home. I love the clean facility. The two doctors I met seem very educated. Front staff is nice and always greets me when I walk through the door. Never had any issues with my pet's care here. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants great care for their pet(s). Pros: Great doctors Cons: Slightly hidden location more

Caring staff, amazing facility 1/5/2010

I moved to Montrose a year ago, and started taking my dogs to Neartown. I am very impressed by them. I shopped around, and the prices are comparable to any others nearby. I usually see Dr. Hunt. She is the sweetest doctor, and always makes my dogs feel comfortable. She is especially knowledgable about Sighthounds (I have a Greyhound - so this is great!) and French Bulldogs. Pros: They love my dogs as much as I do! more

I highly recommend Neartown! 11/27/2009

I moved to Houston late last April, and a neighbor recommended Neartown to me. I read the online reviews and asked some friends, and a lot of them told me that it's pricey but worth the moolah. And it is. You get what you pay for. I Dr. Murray diagnosed my dog with diabetes and told me that this is a very treatable condition. She went on, and tried to calm me down. I was actually angry, thinking that they misdiagnosed my dog, and took her to Heights. That was a waste of time! They re-diagnosed her, and said my dog was so far gone, she needed a $800 blood transfusion! So I frantically went back to Neartown, without an appointment, and Dr. Murray was in surgery. I waited only 15 minutes before she came out, and told me that she didn't need any blood transfusion, she needed a glucose curve, some insulin, and some hospitalization. All of that was less than the uncalled-for blood transfusion that Heights wanted! My baby is in great health now! She is expensive, but she's worth it. And it's more

Wonderful vet care and great staff! 9/16/2009

My pets are very important to me and so is the quality of their care. It seems the negative comments below are from a personal conflict or someone that would have issues wherever they went. It also seems like all the negative reviews are written by the same person. I really value the care provided by Neartown Clinic so I want to share my positive experiences. Pros: Vets w/ different specialities Cons: A little pricey - but equal to that area more

Great place! 9/10/2009

My beautiful 12 year old persian, Biscuit, was on his death bed. I called my regular vet, whom I had been with for almost 8 years, and they told me that they closed in an hour and that I had to take my cat to the emergency clinic. Oh, and walk out with a $1000.00 bill? No way! I called Neartown and they got Biscuit in right away! Dr. Murray saved my cat. I can't think of anything wrong with the facility itself. It's very clean and organized. The technicians were very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. The front desk girls were also very wonderful and polite. I will never take my pets to any other clinic! This place gets FIVE STARS! Pros: Nice doctors, great staff! more

Geesh People- this vet is the same as all in this area 9/8/2009

I have been bringing my Labs here for 2 1/2 years and they have received nothing but the best care. We have boarded frequently and the dogs are excited to walk in the door. The kennel guy is great with the dogs. I checked other prices in the area and they are all the same. I recommend this vet to everyone. Pros: great selection of supplies, great vets and great staff Cons: same as all in river oaks area, little pricey more

Neartown Animal Clinic is great 8/18/2009

Great locally owned veterinarian in Houston's River Oaks / Montrose area. They do the very best for animals and per owners. Wonder staff that is customer service oriented!!! more

Incredible rip-off 6/13/2009

I have not taken my animals back to this place for 2 years, because they overcharge like crazy. Unfortunately I didn't remember by how much. Simple exams and vaccinations for two poms cost $350. What the hell? The crazy thing is, they always give the dogs a two stage fecal exam for heartworm and charge a little over $50 for each dog even though the dogs are taking their heartgard. Just outrageous. Stay away from this vet. They are trying to make up their lease in an expensive area of town by ripping off their customers. The vets dress like they are going shopping at the galleria instead of taking care of animals, just a damn shame. Pros: easy access Cons: charges like a ferrari mechanic more

HORRIBLE!!!! 6/13/2009

I find it amusing that the only positive review here is from an employee...the same employee who is accused of having anger issues by an earlier post. Cons: Everything more

Love it! 6/10/2009

. Pros: Great staff more

Nightmare of a place 7/16/2008

Being told our dog had a 50% chance of having lime disease if in contact with a tick, should have been my first clue that this place was sketchy. A simple spay of our 6 month old pup turned into a nightmare - they didn't suture properly, causing a hernia and an additional surgery. Of course they said it was our fault, we didn't supervise well enough so she over exerted herself and popped a stitch. But having a relative as a natioanlly recognized veterinary surgeon, we quickly understood that it is near impossible for an 8 pound dog to pop her own stitch. Plus the 'bump' was there the moment we picked her up after surgery, yet they still didn't believe us. Recently we took her in for constant scratching. $200 later she's scratching more than ever. To date we've spent over $1000 at this place with horrible service, insanely uneducated front desk personnel, and a terrified pooch. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone in Houston! Pros: nice area Cons: everything else more

Bad Vets; Rude Service 4/9/2008

On two occasions, Neartown prescribed the WRONG medicines for my animal. I'm now going to The Heights which charges $20 less per visit and the staff at The Heights is more caring. (The Heights' staff actually calls to follow up after visits.) Neartown staff is rude and not helpful. The office manager has anger issues. Cons: Incompetent vets; rude office manager and staff more

Good Service 9/14/2005

I've been taking my animals (1 dog, 1 cat) to the Neartown Clinic for about a year now, and I will keep going. The staff at the counter are always very attentive, the clinic is kept very clean, and it seems like the staff has a geniune interest in my pets. The prices are a little on the high side, but it seems like the staff has the experience needed so I don't mind paying a little more. PROS: Service, experienced clinicians CONS: more
