Let's face it, Ikea is really geared more towards apartment dwellers than those who pay mortgage. Their smaller-scale furniture at rock-bottom prices work well for people just starting out.
Their Houston store is Texas-sized and holds an impressive array of basic furniture as well as pretty much every home decor/accessory you can [or the Swedish mind] can think of. On top of that, their cafe is also pretty impressive - good food at Ikea prices, it's really a one-stop shop.
A caveat: obviously, because of their low prices, their quality is not always the best. Every now and then you end up with missing pieces or scratched furniture - but then, that's small trade-off for being able to furnish your whole bedroom for the price of one nightstand at West Elm...

We had several bids from other concrete contractors in Houston and Concrete Forever was the company we finally chose because they seemed the most qualified and the project estimator was very professional.
We are thrilled with the outstanding job they did for us. The Salesman was very friendly and has a knack for design. The job was completed in a reasonable time frame and the superintendent was attentive to every detail. Our neighbors have already called and made an appointment for ya'll to do their concrete driveway!.

My wife and I recently purchased a home in The Heights and we wanted to add a custom patio and a patio cover. We contacted several companies and it seemed that no one had a viable solution until we talked to Affordable Concrete Contractors(www.concreteforever.com)and we were impressed with their design suggestions as well as a viable solution for the complex patio roof. The stamped concrete patio came out great and they even came back about a month later and resealed the patio due to some blemishes in the previous sealer. Very forthright and upstanding company! G. I had Absolute Remodeling update my master bath. They fulfilled all of my expectation, the work was beautiful. All of the people that work in my home were very courteous and extremely understanding when it came to our pets. I would recommend Absolute Remodeling to anyone.

I have used alot of folks over the years, but these people are the best I've come across. We first had an a/c problem from another company and had used Churches for Plumbing, so we called to see if they could come out to look at our a/c unit. They were there within an hour. They fixed what the other company has messed up and we were happy campers again. Again today we had electrical, plumbing and a/c repair out at the same time and again they came when they said they would, fixed everthing I asked them to do and cleaned up after themselves. What more can a customer ask for. There the best!!

There we were...Water rushing down the street, waiting for service from another major plumbing company; it's Sunday night, getting dark. I call to check why it has taken 4 hours--"Sorry, our guys won't be able to get to you tonight." After jumping up and down for a while, I called Roto-Rooter. Yes! Tonight, Soon!
I got a call confirming arrival in 45 minutes. Armando (0538) arrived, cheerful on a cold night, prepared for this emergency, skilled, efficient, friendly. He showed me what was wrong, how to turn the water off at the street level, and how to check for leaks. No need to schedule another appointment, no need to miss work later, showers that night. Thank you!
Pros: Fast, reliable, skilled, friendly work
Cons: cost, but that's plumbing work for you.
