This is bad, terrible, actors are terrible wow my whole group wanted our money back! went last night and knew it was goin to be bad, but we drove all the way from south houston to check it out. The reviewers who give this place 5 stars probably work there and lie to all of you to get you to go. Well stop lieing! shut this place down! don't worry, I also review at the local newspaper here and have some friends at the houston chronicle, so their days of ripping off people are numbered (meaning adios to them next year)
Pros: NONE
Cons: EVERYTHING

Screamworld was one of three haunted attractions I went to in one week, and I had a good time at this one. They are masters of the element of surprise. Even when you KNOW someone is about to pop out at you, it still usually startles you. The price is good for the length of time you spend inside, and while the line can be long, it moves fairly quickly. You've even got entertainment while you wait, because actors will wonder into the line and scare visitors who aren't paying attention. They are very good at what they do. I would be more than willing to go back, and definitely will next year.
Pros: Great value, great acting, great time
Cons: Long lines due to popularity, but that's it

Who are you trying to scare? It sounds great when you look at their web site but it really bites! The long lines bites! I see in a review above mine that someone states that the long lines are due to the spacing of groups, PLEASE!! I went this Friday night and we were all back to back in the house. I could see where they workers were popping out from to scare people before I even got there throughout the entire house! I think that they owe me a refund!! Where did tobias strange find these people? I think he went and collected a couple of bums off the street corners in houston and gave them a job! And when you go to buy some food and drinks, be sure to ask how much and be sure you count you change they give you! They will rip you off! Bottom line is you can go to the zoo and get a better scare from the ape section than ScreamWorld! Maybe they call it ScreamWorld because when you leave, you wanna scream WHAT A RIP OFF!!!!!!!!!
Pros: none
Cons: everything

We took our 5 and 7yr olds this past weekend, and we had a blast watching the kids laugh. Screamworld is almost as scary as Boo on the Bayou.
Not sure why they say they have multiple houses, it's just one big one.
Don't worry about a babysitter! Bring the kids, it's great fun!
Pros: Great for small kids
Cons: long lines, just one big house, not for "big kids"

Not scary, long waiting line, special effects are minimal and it was stifling HOT inside the houses.
I took my 12 yo son and his friends here and was pretty disappointed.
You start off with a fenced in maze. Characters approach and scare you. There was one black ghoul with a bloody mouth who was scary but the rest of the characters were not.
We then waited over an hour to get in. The house was simply dark with spider webs hanging and things touching your legs. The special effects were minimal and there were not very scary corners or surprises. The family behind us had an 8 year old in their part and she was fine. Negotiating the heat and the darkness were the biggest challenge of the houses. No real sound effects. The 3d area was flat and there was only one character encounter. Most of the scaring came in the form of people screaming in your ear as you walked by.
At the end, there is an outside graveyard area in which ghouls jump out from the weeds. It was better than the houses.
The drinks are $3 and $4. The lines are long.

We are bringing back our only haunted house this year. We are gearing our haunt towards children friendly scenes, such as the new BOO TREE in our Tobias Strange graveyard scene. So bring the babies, it's not too scary!!!
The price is $22 for the one attraction, but it's worth it to see our new BOO TREE!!!
Pros: It's not too scary!
Cons: It's $22 for one attraction

My boyfriend and I went last October (2006). It was nothing special. They advertised 3 or 4 haunted houses there, but it's just one house. It's long enough, but not four long. I was just touring citysearch for concert info and found a Scream World review by an employee. We should keep these reviews by users for users, because the guy was full of it! We did wait over an hour for a not very scary experience. The whole place felt flat. There are many haunted houses in Houston. This one was a disappointment. We expected more. I would take my little sister there this next Halloween, because she's 11 and would love it. My Brother will be 16 and he would laugh. I remember Scream World had some special discounts on Thursdays or something. It would not feel like such a rip for less bucks. Be warned!
Pros: My little sis could handle it
Cons: Not very special, dull

I have worked with the owners of Screamworld for over 10 years, and they have repeatedly been the best. They took their three BEST haunted attrations (The Haunted Hotel, Edge of Darkness, and 3-d.. under various names) and combined them into one house. What that does for YOU, is make the wait much shorter, makes it safer for the actors, and the walk-through about 20 minutes. The wait in line is long because, in order to provide a better experience for you, the groups have to be spaced out.. else all there will be is one solid.. SLOW line through the house. When Haunted Hotel was downtown, I saw lines that circled the block, but with a covered line, and concessions, the experience asn't all that terrible... How long did you wait at Astroworld to get on a 5 minutes roller coaster ride? I've waited 2 or 3 hours. One hour isn't bad. Pay the few extra bucks and you get a faster moving line (two groups to every one general admission)
If I was prone to be scared... this would be the place that would scare me. Have fun.. and GOOD LUCK!
