I am shocked!! I have been a client at Southside Place Animal Hospital for 15 years and have always strongly recommended them to friends and neighbors. I have had the pleasure of meeting all of the doctors Dr. Frei, Dr. Teboe and Dr. Reyna and they have all been great to me and my children when we come in for services. Any negative review must involve poor miscommunication between the individuals.Sometimes we forget as cliets there are rules we must all follow.

The doctor rudely excoriated by wife this morning in their lobby, reducing her to tears. Why? Because the staff (we learned this morning) made up a story about me swearing at them last week when they refused to refill a regular prescription for my old dog's chronic condition--unless we booked another office visit. I never, in fact, even raised my voice and certainly never used off-color language (I don't) but did complain that the medicine was for a permanent, chronic condition, diagnosed by Dr. Frei, and that the dog would suffer over the weekend without the medicine. I asked for a few days supply until we could see the vet but was refused that, too. My innocent remark--or maybe the made up story her by staff- apparently had her drop us from future care this morning and inspired a tirade that reduced my gentle wife to tears. I tried to call to resolve it but the Doctor went ballistic and then hung up on me. Buyer beware!

Wow, I was shocked to read such scathing reviews. I have taken both my kitties to SS Place Animal Hosp and I have always had the best experience with ALL the vets. Dr. Frei has always been the best and Dr. Reyna has always been the best. My big kitty swallowed a yard of plastic ribbon and it had to be surgically removed. They treated him so lovingly and when I go back they always remember him and are very good not only to him but my other kitty too. I recently moved and regret I cannot take them back as they used to be right around the corner. I can only say the best things about them and hope that the incidents descibed are isolated. I do know that the doctors are on rotation, so sometimes you do not get the same Dr. all the time. I was just lucky enough get Dr. Reyna regularly and Dr. Frei occasionally, but she was always nice and professional and returned calls. I know when my kitty was there Dr. Reyna called me every day over the weekend it took place even though the clinic was closed to let me know how he was. I will always be eternally greatful to them and all that they did for us and I will miss taking my kitties there.

I never write reviews...but felt very compelled to do this. This is a terrible vet. Dr. Frei, the owner is extremely RUDE. She argued with me in the front lobby. I am amazed that she has any customers. Dr. Haffey, another vet, told me to consider getting a smaller dog because they charge on the weight of the animal. I was pregnant at the time and burst into tears - Can you believe how RUDE they are? The only good experience was with Dr. Reyna - she is very competent. Every time I take one of my animals to the vet, they leave with medication for a separate issue. I think that they purposely LIE about certain things to run up the bill. They do not call to consult you on anything...they just do it! AVOID THIS VET IF YOU CAN!!!

we went to this place with our cat after reading in the paper how great dr. frei is, but they didn't let us see her and instead stuck us with a new vet who also works there and seems to have very little experience. she didn't tell us anything we didn't already know and i would not go back there to see her again. Pros: non-informative vet, very small exam rooms, long wait Cons: convenient location?

This is a very nice veternary office. The doctors are friendly and like animals. I brought my nieces with me for my dog's check-up, and the doctor explained everything she was doing and why. It was a great learning experience for them, and it was above and beyond for the doctor. We'll keep bringing our pets here. The only drawback is for boarding; the assistants have to walk a half block or so to get to a field for the dogs to play and exercise.
