I have always used Continental where I could. I've come to expect and get from them courtesy, good information and availability.
They usually always come in very close to, if not the lowest rate between the other airlines with destinations to where I am flying.

In this day and age, it's easy to find great prices on airline tickets. It's not easy to find great service. Continental offers both, great service and great prices. Their people on the phones when you call for a reservation are always cheerful, upbeat and willing to work with you to find the best possible fare for your dates of travel. The company website is easy to navigate and very user friendly for online ticket purchase. The airport personnel and inflight staff are friendly and professional. The planes are the youngest in the industry and the company has one of the best safety records industry wide. This company offers you high value for your travel dollar.

I've only had the opportunity to fly British Airways once, but I was so impressed that I would definitely fly them again if I had the chance! When we were in London a couple of years ago, we weren't able to take a train to Brussels as planned, and needed to find a way to get there because we had to fly home from there. We ended up booking a flight on British Airways and the price we got on airfare was a great deal!
We are so used to the way travel works here in the US, so we purchased food in the airport prior to boarding our flight. The flight attendants actually laughed at us and said, "Don't you know this is British Airways?" It was a short flight ( a little over an hour ) but they had a full meal and the food was actually pretty good. The flight attendants were very attentive and the accommodations were really nice! There was plenty of leg room!

I have been flying Southwest Airlines for as long as I can remember and they are definitely my favorite airline. I love that everyone is the same in their eyes and you don't have to worry about "first class" and "coach." They don't have any frills and they don't lie about that. Their airfare is very affordable, though, and that makes it all worth it. Their flights are fun because the flight attendants make it fun. Check in is easy because you can do it online and print off your boarding pass. They tend to run on time more than other airlines I've flown. Their frequent flyer program is also great and it's very easy to earn free tickets. When you do earn free tickets, they don't have all the hassle and limited seating that other airlines have. They have a few blackout dates around the holidays, but not many. There are very few restrictions. If you have a free ticket and there is a seat available, you can fly that same day.

This airport is huge and we have enjoyed the amount of amenities that are provided indoors. Although I will say that the construction and moving around of things is ridiculous. We have flown a few times and all the rerouting is more confusing than ever. They have moved the international arrivals about 3 times over the last few years. I know they are just expanding and making things nicer, but they need better routing.

More
I was at IAH twice this week because we had family visiting from Orlando, and I can honestly tell you I was embarrassed for them to see our airport. They're doing a lot of construction at IAH and it doesn't seem that there's any rhyme or reason to it. Roads end abruptly and signs are few and far between.(If you are lucky enough to find a sign, there's a good chance it's outdated.)
Anthony B. (yelp.com) describes this airport as miserable - I think that's a perfectly fitting description. It's hot, the workers are rude, there are no good restaurants or shopping, and no "common area" where you can hang out with your travelers before they have to board. (Unless you count the baggage claim area. I don't because the few seats they do have are hard, plastic numbers that are welded to a bar. Makes conversation uncomfortable as you have to twist around to talk to the person on your right or left.)
Also, I've found the TSA at this location to be largely inconsistent and utterly lacking in people skills.
Finally, the entire airport has an ambiance of antiquity and dirt. Nice way to welcome travelers, eh?
Luckily, we have two airports in Houston. Although Hobby is smaller (and I think, older), I find it to have a much more comfortable feeling, the parking is easy to negotiate, it's cleaner, and it looks to be kept in better repair.
If you have a choice of airports when you're traveling, avoid IAH and fly into Hobby instead.
