Academy has great shoe selection and in the weekly sales paper there is a section of shoes on sale. I have found several great pairs of shoes at Academy. In fact, I picked up my youngest daughter 2 pairs of Adidas at Christmas last year, for ten bucks a pair. This is even cheaper than walmart.
My husband and son go to Academy for rubber boots and hunting boots as well, a wide selection at the most affordable prices around.
When I needed steel toe boots for work, I searched all over town, from Wal-mart all the way to the boot shops where prices go into the hundreds. Finally I had the bright idea of Academy. There was about 10 pairs of boots there for woman, prices starting at 20 bucks. I did buy my work boots at Academy, 4 months ago and have been very pleased.

We always went to Duncan sports to get sporting goods during football season. They used to be the only place in town to get pads, mouthguards, socks and other team apparel. We still go there when other bigger chains are out of things, and they always seem to have what we need. If they do not have it, they can order it for you in a reasonable amount of time. Come here if you need anything for your kids’ sports team!

My kids are not into playing sports other than the usual carport basketball game or the occassional kickball game in the backyard so we don't need specialized shoes.
But we do require very comfortable shoes, and for all of our athletic shoe needs we go to footlocker. They offer very competitive prices compared to other atlethic shoe stores, plus experts at getting the best possible fit.
We also go to the Footlocker to purchase the necessities to maintain shoes such as shoe cleaner and protectants, not to mention the everyday shoe strings and shoe inserts.
So check out the Footlocker, before shopping anywhere's else,

This place is huge and worth every penny it cost to buid it. Now large venues such as concerts and plays can come to our little town. There is also a ticket booth located inside for convience. Also 2 permanant food stands that sell nachos, hot dogs and chips. Other times I have been there I have seen papa johns pizza and other vendors. Lagrge space with bench seating and lots of bathrooms. I am very impressed.

Southdown Plantation is absolutely beautiful! The museum contains artifacts from around Terrebonne Parish and you get a good idea of Cajun culture. When you go, you will be guided through the house on a tour. If you are lucky enough to be here in early November, or right before Easter, do not miss the Southdown Plantation Craft sale. Many vendors come for this and you can go on the museum tour, too.

This is a place to come for all your sporting needs. If its fishing, basketball, baseball, hunting, you name it they will probabally have it. Great selection of sports equipment and gear at supper affordable prices. Clerks are friendly, helpful, and knowledgable about the products that they sell. I believe this store also offers special orders for things they do not carry.

My two brothers and I were participates with the Terrebonne Parish 4H, through our school systems. I must tell you that Shaney Hill, the director of the 4H organization for Terrebonne Parish is wonderful. Within the 4H program, all children are equal. The grades they recieve in school are irrelevant to thier 4H projects, any disabilities are also unnoticed.
We have competed in cooking contests, animal showings, and sewing contests, winning trophies along the way. Even if the child can not make it to compete at shows, they are given points for simply completing thier 4H booklet on time, completely filled in.
Now my kid sister is a 4Her and she loves it. They had a 4H extravaganza at school saturday and she's still talking about it. It was basically a fun-day with games, activities and raffles to win.
The booklets range from getting to know the community to more specialist projects like sewing or animal rearing.
The camps during summer are awesome and keep from the 4th graders all the way through seniors in high school busy and happy.
If your child is ever given the chance to be a part of 4H please consider it, this is an opportunity that will grow with them forever. The challenges they learn and conquer in 4H will make them better persons all around.

My oldest son played football for our parish rec dept, now my youngest boy is playing. The rec dept has a 10.00 sign up fee so not being able to afford the sign up fee, I know other areas are like 50.00-60.00 for one season.
For that 10.00 each kid recieves a jersey, and pads, the parents are to supply the shoes, socks, pants, and the pants pads.
And the best part of the program is the motto is not about the winning score, it's that every child plays and feels that he's a part of the team.
The rec dept also offers girls to cheerlead for the games for the same great 10.00 price and they have the cheer uniform provided.
Practices for both boys and girls are held at the park closest to the home team area several times a week starting in late july. The last game is played in mid november, and the games are played on Saturday at the Soutdown School stadium off of Lafayette st. in Houma, LA

Tiger tyme is a store in the Winn Dixie plaza on Lafayette st in Houma. The store is located in the far corner, kinda hard to find, but well worth the efforts.
This store is stocked with all the goodies to support LSU tigers. From baby sized cheerleader outfits, to water bottles, to license plates, to mini LSU football uniforms and footballs, if the item has LSU tigers on the item, it can be found in this store.
Tiger Tyme only carries items which are licensed by the NCAA official site, so they items are a little more expensive, but the quality of the item outweighs those extra couple of bucks the items cost. If you have an LSU fan in your life, tiger tyme is the place to shop.
