We were stuck in Houma, LA on saturday waiting for our daughter to be finished at a baby shower, coming all the way home would have been a wasted time and gas.
So very glad that I wandered into Target as my choice for wasting time while waiting, time didn't go to waste. Inside of Target, discounted they had these silk bedsheets, olive green in color, perfect for the guest bedroom. They were a little more expensive than the regular cotton sheets I usually put into there, but I paid the price anyways, I think it was 22.90 for the set. While there I also picked up on a couple of cute picture frames that were discounted to two bucks each. Then I went down the other isle, my teeth almost fell out at this price not only did I get all the above mentioned items, but i got as well as a lamp for the guest room, get this 3 bucks and it had a shade. Oh I so love Target, so go before all the good stuff is gone.
Thanks,
stephanie

The Oaks of Houma seems to be about the average retirement home. People who live there seem to be content with the place, although it is costly, like most private homes. My grandmother lived here for a few years, and she said it wasn't totally terrible, but it wasn't a walk in the park either. I guess that can be said for all nursing homes, no matter what you pay or how fancy they are. The place tries to look home-like but in all honesty it falls short and still comes out looking like a glorified hospital room. The staff seems to care about the people there and do a good job at keeping hygiene by the residents up, the place hardly ever has that urine smell that so many retirement homes do.

My Grandmother was in TGMC for about 2 months. She went in with a broken leg bone. They performed surgury and sent her home to heal within a couple of weeks only for her to be brought back because she could not make a bowel movement and ran a high fever. They ran tests and said she had Diverticulitis, they performed surgury to correct that problem, which brought on a new set of issues. She was in CCU for 2 weeks with pressure elevated, fever, and severe stomach cramps. They took her down for X-ray after a 1 and half or so of being in such condition and brought her back with one Kidney. They said her kidney was damaged. They could not say how or why (keeping in mind when seen by the ER doctor a few weeks ago, he said her kidneys were fine). She was back in CCU for weeks with a colostomy bag. They then sent her up in the floor with stomach cramps, not eating, and stats still abnormal. They wanted to send her to a place called LTAC for Long term care, but that facility said they could not take her without her eating, so they started ignoring her pains and kept telling her, "you need to eat, you need to eat". They put her on strong pain medicine, which she was too old to receive, so they had to take her off it. She is still in pain and is suffering, so after a couple of weeks, they decide to do a CTScan and say they say fluid in her abdomen, but they don't know what it is. They did not proceed to correct this issue, they left the unknown fluid in her body for weeks, until she couldn't bear the suffering any longer, then they decided to drain it and put a tube in her back, and pumped more antibiotics in her. She then got pnuemonia, one of the doctors said, so they increased her respiratory care, and gave her more antibiotics, they are now discharging her while she is still hollering in pain, and coughing with cold in her lungs. The hospital staff urgency was non-existent, and many times we had to report them for nasty behavior. The doctors and staff are awful!
Pros: none
Cons: doctors and staff have no patience and does not care
