This is my favorite place for a brunch buffet. The food is absolutely the best and very deliscious. It has a very nice ambience and everything tastes good. However, it is limited to the military so you have to have connections. Still its a wonderful place and the hotel is equally nice.

My husband booked one night at the Hale Koa during my first visit to O'ahu. We had a partial ocean view room on one of the upper floors -- the view from our lanai was gorgeous, and we even had a chance to watch the sun set. The staff was friendly, the hospitality and "aloha spirit" unmatched. Service members and their families should take advantage of the quality and affordability of one of the best hotels in Honolulu.

My cousin invited me over when he was leaving the islands for a new assignment. The room he had was okay I wouldn't consider it a luxury room or hotel by any stretch of the imagination. The pool is what I'd consider medium sized, the property has a nice tropical look and feel. Take a walk around.
If you know someone in the Military I believe you can be sponsored so you can rent a ballroom for a wedding or other function. I've been to several weddings there and even a High School reunion.
The food is always pretty good and the facility is nice. Once again, not what I consider luxury.

The Hale Koa is the military's luxery hotel on Oahu. It is really worth the money to stay here. My husband and I lived here for two weeks when we first came to the island and really took advantage of all the hotel has to offer. The restuarants are good, I really recommend the breakfast buffet. Sometimes we drive downtown just to enjoy the atmosphere at breakfast. The pool is okay, best for little kids. They do also have a pool for adult hotel guests as well, so that is nice. The beach at Hale Koa is not the nicest, however you can rent these big floats and take them out on the ocean and just relax. That is really nice to do. Hale Koa has their own luau. I am not a big fan of luau's but when family comes in town I like to take them. This luau is much more reasonably priced than some of the others. The jewelry store at the Hale Koa sometimes has nice specials and since they are located in the hotel, they have lots for tourists. The best feature of the Hale Koa I think is just that they are for military only, therefore everything is good priced. You can park there for cheap, there is an Exchange on site and a barber, etc. You must stay here during a PCS. The rooms are just okay, but the views are incredible.

With an ideal location, adjacent to Waikiki but outside the hustle and bustle, this property is available only to active or retired service personnel, their families, and their guests. And they deserve it! It's one of the best deals in Waikiki. Great ocean views, good sized and comfortably furnished rooms. Guest parking is nearby.
