I have to agree with E M on this one. I found the buffet to be average. I'm from the mid-west, and it reminded me of Ponderosa. (food that might look alright, but taste fairly bland) I tried just about everything on their lunch buffet, but I couldn't find anything that had a nice distinct flavor. The servers were nice enough, but they seemed to be overworked. I was there on a Saturday afternoon and they were crowded, but maybe understaffed?? The ambiance was a loud bar-by-the-beach type atmosphere. Although I should say that even though they are by the beach, over half of their beach-view tables actually overlook the hotel pool. The view of pool-people did not quite compare to the tropical ocean. Either way, it was alright overall. I probably wouldn't go back, there were many other similar places that I'll give a try next time.

Lunch buffet was great, but the waitress was awful. She took a year to even show up. When she did, we already decided on the buffet for lunch (good, but not great), and asked for a Mai Tai. When that turned out to be too strong, and I asked for more juice in it, she said, condescendingly "Just so you know for next time, it has 151 proof rum in it'.
First off, not EVERY Mai Tai has 151 proff stuff in it. If Duke's makes it strong, so be it, but they could have warned us - I was carded even (a compliment at my age), so I definitely didn't look like a hard-core drinker!
Second, 151 proff - that IS strong. I'm not an alcoholic, I just wanted a mild tropical drink! She did bring the juice, though.
Anyway. Won't be going back.

Duke's is a place that everyone must visit at least once. If you aren't very hungry and just want appetizers, sit at the outdoor patio and eat under the palm trees, right on the beach. If you are a little hungrier, sitting inside will give you access to the great salad bar! The service is always friendly, and I'm always full when I leave. Their drinks are also reasonably priced.
You must try their Hula Pie!! Its a dessert they are famous for, and it's so good!
