Quite possibly the best Mexican food on the Island. Azteca is conveniently located on Waialae Ave., in Kaimuki (across the street from the Goodwill store). The Mexican food is delicious, and their menu includes many choices. (Try their chicken burrito with guacamole – delicious!) The price is reasonable – about $7-10 for a burrito and guacamole, and a little bit more for the bigger plates. Customer service is excellent. However, the restaurant is a little small and usually pretty crowded, so be sure to get there early for dinner.

The service can be slow at times but it is well worth the wait. The food is fresh (not out of can) and authentic as you can get in Hawaii. I judge every Mexican restaurant by its rice and beans first and Quinteros passed with fying colors. The beans are hot and fresh and the rice is tasty and fluffy. The Ceviche, Guacamole, Chile Verde, Relleno, Enchiladas Carne Asada, are all excellent.
Pros: Fresh and authentic Mexican food
Cons: Service can be slow at times

What is there not to like about this place? Service is great, just a little hole in the wall place, but their food is tasty. Their Carne Asada is the REAL DEAL! Try their Carne Asada Burrito, and add some guacamole inside, you won't be sorry. The Burrito is packed with all meat, so if you wanna add other stuff in their, you can. This is a great place to get food if you're on the go, or even if you wanna take your family out to. Very casual. Friendly employees. But best of all, the food!
Pros: Food, InExpensive, large portions
Cons: parking maybe confusing, but there is parking in the back.

Torito's, located at the Market City Shopping Center (corner of King and Kapiolani), is our favorite Mexican restaurant. We order from them about once a week, and they always have the food ready in 10-15 minutes. They are generous with their meat. The pork tacos are wonderful, as are their shrimp enchiladas. My husband swears by their ground beef crispy tacos. We do however, usually order out. We have found the chairs at the restaurant uncomfortable, but that won't prevent us from meeting friends there for a meal.

From the greeting when you walk into the door to the fine food (huge servings) this is our absolute FAVORITE Mexican restaurant in Hawaii!!! The staff make you feel like friends who've come to visit. Excellent service....just excellent!! Great food....overwhelming portions. Superb salsa, tasty crisp and light chips that keep coming!!
There are many Mexican restaurants in Honolulu....many are way overpriced ($16-19 for taco/enchilada rice and beans...oh, come on!!) and stingy (want more chips? $4. More salsa $3....yeah, it's Hawaii but that is just CHEAP) I've tried nearly all of them and no one compares to Torito's in the city.
We drive from Waianae (35 miles) to visit these folks...that's how they make us feel when we walk in. I always have a healthy doggy bag to take home too!! Smiles and warmth from all the staff just ice the cake.
Treat yourself.....stop by and let these folks add you to their ohana!!
Pros: Great Food, great prices, wonderful staff
Cons: too far from my home!!

The food is the best Mexican food I have ever had. The owner is the main chef and if it isn't really busy he comes out and talks with everyone and makes you feel at home. Last time I checked they did not have a liquor license but you could bring the tequila and they will provide the magarita mix! The salsa and quacamole tastes as if they made it for you right at the table. They don't advertise their tamales on the menu but if you ask they usually have some made. Those are my favorites!! Please go and ENJOY!!!
Pros: Delicious, Friendly, Cheap
Cons: Small, No AC

As a long-time (36 yrs) resident and a huge fan of Mexican food, I have visited most Mexican restaurants in Honolulu and on Oahu. La Bamba is the best. There are other restaurants that excel in ambience, however, La Bamba is calm and pleasant with excellent and friendly service. Most importantly, the food is consistently excellent. I highly recommend La Bamba for a memorable Mexican dining experience.
Pros: Excellent food, Excellent service, Calm ambience
Cons: parking

My Mexican husband loved it too! I get enchiladas no matter where I go, and his carne asada and carnitas were really good! You get a lot of food for really cheap! I think it was like 6 bucks, and I could barely finish it! You have to try this place! My husband liked his taco platter!
Pros: You pick your meat and beans
Cons: they're closed on weekends
