i have heard about this place for almost as long as i've lived here and did not get to try it out until last month. holy CRAP! this place is sooooooooooooooooooo good. now, i'm not a sushi expert, but i know bad and good sushi when i eat it. and this was up there with sansei (although they're a different style) and superb sushi and definitely better than genki (i should hope so, since they're more expensive too). i have yet to try sushi sasabune, but i can't wait, if they're better than yanagi.
let's see, i can't remember what i had exactly, i just remember it was ALL GOOD. i think one nigiri dinner combo and one misozake (sp?) butterfish combo? i don't think you can go wrong with this place. i have heard you need reservations for dinner.

Yanagi Sushi serves some of the best quality sushi in town. Reservations at the sushi bar are an absolute must. Cuts of fish are better at the sushi bar compared to sitting at the tables. The sushi bar is expensive, but the quality is excellent. Ask the chefs if they recommend any types of seafood and they will tell you if its fresh or not. We’ve had everything including toro, uni, ama ebi, hamachi, awabi, unagi, and ikura. The only drawback, if you consider this a drawback, is that their sushi rice is served a bit warm.

I like the authentic Japanese lay out at Yanagis. They have a nice sushi bar and the sushi chefs prepare your sushi right in front of you.
The price is actually not bad for japanese food. Their lunch specials are even better.
