When I have a craving for Mexican food I look nowhere else than Baja Tacos. It's a small locally owned restaurant in Kaimuki. They pride themselves at providing authentic Mexican food. The soft tacos are superb. I also highly recommend the burritos (not your typical "Taco Bell" type burrito). The taquitos however are a bit expensive for what you get.

Danto’s has been one of the better Italian restaurants I have been to. They serve up some great tasting Italian food in a romantic and intimate atmosphere. The food there is really good. When I was there I ordered they’re leg of lamb. It was so good and was fall off the bone tender. It came with a side of creamy polenta and green beans fired with garlic…so good. For desert they serve up this volcano chocolate cake with ice cream. The cake is baked on the outside with a gooey chocolate center. The few times I have been there the service with the exception of one incident has been fairly good. Menu prices for this place are also pretty steep averaging around $25-$50.

More
Boulevard Saimin is one of those great local-style restaurants where the air conditioning doesn’t quite work right and parking is tight, but the tasty soup with the thin noodles make it all worth it.
The restaurant is located on Dillingham in Kailhi. No, you don’t HAVE to order saimin (but you should). A variety of local favorites are also offered such as spam and eggs, hamburgers (with a great secret sauce), and the ever-popular cone sushi.
Tip: if you want to order cone sushi, let the waiter/waitress know when they seat you so they can put it on reserve. On at least one occasion, I didn’t reserve my cone sushi (because there seemed to be a lot left) but by the time I ordered, they were all spoken for.
Boulevard Saimin doesn't accept credit cards, but since almost everything is relatively inexpensive (a large saimin is under five bucks), that's an insignificant inconvenience.

I admit, I'm chinese, but I love chinese food. I've been to various chinese restaurants, and seeing that one of my favorite dishes, I almost always order chow fun. However, at each restaurant, I am always dissapointed because no one can match up to the savory chow fun with beef at The Urumi Noodle Cafe located in Chinatown at 142 N King St. Just talking about their chow fun noodles makes me hungry. I love this dish so much that I eat everything in the dish. I usually hate the vegetable called choi sum, but their incredible gravy sauce makes me even crave it. I should also point out that there is different types of chow fun, so remember to order it with the gravy and not dry.

More
It has actually moved to the Mariott. Its still the best sushi I have ever had and I have had a lot of sushi. My friends and I agree Sansei literally has the most amazing sushi in the world. Genki's and sushiman don't even begin to compare. Nor does Pagoda or any other restuarant in terms of good sushi. The best part about this place is that all their sushi is half off on two days between something like 5 and 6 (check website for details). The catch is that one you have to be a resident of hawaii, and that you must order by a certain time. Lines start to form about a half-hour before doors open. I once got there forty-five minutes prior and was first in line. They come out about fifteen minutes prior to take sushi bar requests. Despite many people not liking to eat at the sushi bar, I would say take it because its so much better. If you take sushi bar you get seated first and when you want to order you tell it straight to the sushi chefs. Thus, your order is alwaysin first and if you think they're slow you can just tell them without ever tracking your waitress or waiter down. Also, I'd say in teh wait outside the restaurant look at the menu and know what your immediately going to order. WE typically go in rounds of ordering because everything is typically shared family style. We go with four rolls off the bat for four people and tell the chefs immediately when we get in. If you don't get your initial order in quickly you probably will regret it when the chefs get backed up with tons of orders. Thats the basic advice. You'll be super glad you went here. Seriously, the sushi is the best in the states.

these guys really know how to do sushi. i had them cater my daughter's 1st birthday (very reasonably priced, i might add), and it blew everybody away. they send you your own personal sushi chef who makes your sushi for your guests right in front of them with the freshest ingredients (their hamachi is killer!). you can also add other options like a tempura station where they dip and fry it right on the spot (ohhhhhhhhh soooooooo goooooooooood), noodles and whatnot. they also make up platters, i believe, if you just want to take something to go to a party (and be the most popular person there). these guys are AWESOME!!!
