This place has really good prices and the selection is simply amazing. A little bit hole in the wall because its a warehouse, but all their fabrics are really nice. When I was searching for 5 different layers of white lace I found them all here. Thats how nice the selection is. The satin is wonderful and their prints are also really nice. However, don't expect the workers to cater to you. Most people who come here know what they want and come regularly.

Hakubundo on Kapiolani is a little Japanese store that carries all types of Japanese materials, including comic books, oragami papers, stamps and other gift items. The prices are pretty expensive but they often hold sales, so you can pick up some cool stuff for a little cheaper. As the other reviewer mentioned, Girls Day and Boys Day is probably one of their bigger events and that's when they sale special items like fish lanterns.
It is one of the few Japanese craft stores left on the island.

Whenever I go there is always a class going on and what's better, classes are sometimes free. You can learn things from lei makng to decoupage, to sewing, to painting.
When you get there, the parking is very limited and tight so make sure you are a good driver and park on the street.
Once you get there, you always see sale items on carts oustide the store. It is usually quite picked over or stuff that is out of season so unless you use it to save for the future, it isn't really that great of a sale.
However, once you get inside, there is such a huge selection of items to choose from. There are several cashiers so you don't have to really wait in line long to pay, and there is usually somebody walking around so it is easy to find help if you need it.
Althoug prices area a little high, they do have great sales so be sure to check it out. Also, be sure to check newspapers for adds and ask the sales clerks for when the next big bag sale will be. You will end up getting items at huge discounts.

It was such delight to be able to learn new yarn and ribbon lei patterns by the sweet employee here. I was surprised not to see more people in the classes. If you like to make different ribbon and yarn lei or simply a refresher course I would suggest to see Stacia at 1960 King Street Craft Supply. She is patient and so helpful in remainding me how to crochet satin cord lei.
Much Mahalo to Stacia and Craft Supply.

I know, it is a completely silly, and a bit of a touristy thing to do, but I still take my daughter here to get her hair braided. For me, it's well worth the money to save me the time and frustration of fixing her hair every day. They do a really great job on her, and she sits patiently all the way through.

When I found the place, I found that there was no parking stall for me. I had to drive further along and park on the street. They have about only 3-4 parking stalls behind the building and they share the stalls with a doctor in the adjoining building.
Once I got inside, I found it to be only 1 room big however they had so many different crystals, beads, books on beading, hooks, lanyards and so much more. What was even more interesting is that they had a class going on to teach how to bead. I asked about it and it is actually free to learn. You just buy the instructions that they have and the beads you need and you can sit there following the instructions. If you get stuck, there are no worries as the sales clerks watch and help anyone who needs or asks for it. It makes for a delightful afternoon project. There were hundreds of beads and the prices were really excellent compared to some of the bigger retailers that sell beads.
So although parking was almost impossible, once you get there, the pleasant employees and the huge variety of beads will have you coming back often. Not just admire the beads but also to learn to create more cute trinkets taught to you by the awesome sales clerks.

I found the place in a little shopping area but it was located on the 2nd floor so I could not see it from where I parked. In fact I would not have known it was up there if someone had not told me. Parking was a little tight since it is shared with the other businesses. When I got there I opened the door and was surprised to find a huge store full of beads. Everything was displayed all around, beads were in little containers on tables everywhere. Also, they displayed there beadwork everywhere and makes a person excited to start beading. What's more is the owner actually sells kits with all the items needed to make certain things like crystal strawberries so that you don't have to count out each bead on your own. There were beautiful beaded bracelets, charms, necklaces and animals everywhere. They provide classes as well which you need to sign up for. They do charge for the classes and I found the prices are a bit higher than some other stores but the atmosphere itself makes you forget and makes you want to buy. The classes are in a different room towards the side. I found the place very happy, full of people rushing around picking beads, and ready to start beading.

This is a little yarn shop that a friend told me about. It is a very small place but packed with interesting yarn, and other useful tools for knitting and crocheting. The owner seems very friendly and even took the time to help me to learn the purl stitch while I was there. I believe she runs it alone so it can be a little hard to get her undivided attention for help sometimes. The yarn is pricey but when compared to buying it online and paying shipping costs, it's a little better.

I had to put this down when I read the Pearl City store review. The location is relatively "convenient", in that it's in town. The parking lot is awkward to maneuver in however, and the store itself is dingy and dark. The customer service is on the edge of rude, mostly unhelpful and their return policy is horrible. Their selection is okay, I can't say much about their sales b/c I've never been to one, but after my last experience there, I'm not going to ever shop there unless I have to.
