The Hollywood Video in Homewood has consistently charged us for movies that we did not rent. It actually sounds kind of funny, if I ran the random list of movies we were accused of stealing. Basically, they experienced some sort of computer error, which did not have to turn out sour. However, after repeatedly speaking with their mangers about resolving the issue, we came up at a loss in the end. They would often apologize and say they fixed the glitch, and would not let it happen again. They promised to request identification whenever somebody attempted to rent on our account, and noted our account to reflect that promise. They couldn't’t keep that promise and they became less apologetic and more blaming and rude after a couple months of disputing the ridiculous issue. So, we tore up our card and crossed the street, where we found “Family Video”, a place that I highly recommend!

This place has cute kids clothes, at least for girls. I love that I can find outfits that 5 other kids in my daughter's class already have. It's smaller, so you get a lot better customer service and quality.

Just for starters, I believe that the Menard's a block down is better. This store is still very good. Usually when you walk in they give you a bag of popcorn to keep you distracted as you fill your cart. The people who work here are all nice, but I don't feel as if they know their store well enough. Good, but not great.

This is the sweetest place to shop for specialty gifts in Homewood. You'll find Lincoln-Parkish type stuff at less than half the price. The place smells fabulous and sells everything from handmade crafts, candles and soaps, to jewelery, artwork and baby treats. Not to mention one of a kind vintage furniture finds. The staff is so pleasant - No city snobbery here! I complimented them on their awesome prices and quality, and I was told that they believe it's the only way to be. They know they may be able to make more money if they opened a yuppier location, but they want people to really be able to afford and enjoy their products. That's great business!!!

This place really does have everything from gourmet cheese to fleece pajamas. They are open 24 hours, which is a must for a mom like me. I’m often stuck doing to do a late night Tylenol run for a sick baby. And the place is huge. There’s even a very cheerful older gentleman who greets you at the door with some witty comment that will indeed bring a smile to your face. He’s also there to offer you a sale paper and a cart if you need one. They have very decent prices on kids clothes, spices and veggies. But I would never buy diapers, baby food or any type of personal hygiene product there. It seems as though they have a slight mark up on the price of those products. Not to mention that the aisles are not so clean. I like to buy my baby’s diapers at a clean store. Although, at times one can find a greener head of lettuce at this Super K than at the regular grocery store. And, I find their meat and produce section to be significantly cleaner than the rest of the store. Some other interesting features that Super K offers is an Olan Mills portrait studio near the entrance, and a tank full of live lobsters in their seafood department. I have found the employees to be quite helpful, often taking the time to walk me to the item that I was looking for. In such a big store I often find myself spending more time searching for what I need. And, you may find that things are not always located in the most logical places.

I went to the Goodie Bag for my child's birthday party. They had everything you could imagine. The prices were not bad on the supplies. They even had characters in costumes to come to your house. That was a little pricey. $150.00 for a half-an-hour. The place was clean and very well organized. The staff was helpful and nice.

I visited The Little Colony to get some Girl Scout things for my daughters and was so impressed with the selection of clothes at the store. They have the cutest high-end brands that aren't easy to find in the south suburbs.
They have a friendly staff, easy-to-navigate store, and convenient lay-away plan. If you're in the area, stop by this cute boutique - you won't be disappointed!

This is a great place to get gags for a special occasion. They are also stocked with great costumes, and other party favors. This location just burned down, and has moved a few blocks south, still on Dixie Hwy. The people who work there all know their product and are quick to help.
