Alibi is the only sushi in Homer. Usually it's great, but tonight it was only so so. There are two problems: 1: It's in the back of a bar, so it's always smokey. 2: It was very slow tonight (it's Friday and there was only one sushi chef - the second was out with a family emergency).
The sushi area is tucked away in the back so the smoke / bar stench isn't too bad, but tonight it seeped into everything. If the pace had been ok, it would have been fine, but service was extremely slow and they were very busy. As a result, we bagged out after about half of our sushi and went to get ice cream. It turned out to have been enough sushi (we were full after ice cream) so the slow service might have saved us from ourselves tonight.

We love Broadwalk Fish & Chips. Halfway down the Homer Spit on the right, this is the classic deep fried halibut (and other fish) place. It's totally casual, quick, and inexpensive ($40 for two people.) The food is fried, and fried, and fried. Don't forget to start with a clam chowder bread bowl. Yum.

Stopped in here for a quick lunch after shopping on the spit. They had a small outside dining area, but we ate inside as it was a bit cold the day we were in town. Very clean. You order at the counter coming in, servers were nice & friendly. Our food came out quickly and it was very good. The prices on the fish or shrimp baskets were very good compared to others we had seen on the trip. The calamari was very reasonable and tasted great. Prices are so high everywhere you go, it was nice to have reasonable prices to feed you family.

We heard that this was a good place to eat, but to make reservations. It was well worth the wait. The food at Cafe Cups is the best I have ever ate. We could have made a meal of the appetizer of mussels and streamers in a coconut sauce of some kind. It was absolutly to die for. I wish we were closer as I would love to once again sample that wonderful to die for appetizers. We are from Buffalo, WY and have nothing like this at all. We will definetly make reservations to eat there on our next trip.

Reservations a good idea. We stopped by at a little after 6 on 4/2/06. We were seated but the place immediately filled.
The food was delicious. Casual attire. Mostly locals it appeared.

Captain Pattie's is one of the "upscale" places on the Homer Spit. Now - upscale in Homer means that you get to sit down at a nice table, have a view of the ocean, and be served with real plates and silverware.
The fish is extremely fresh (no surprise here). The portions are large, and the fried stuff is awesome (do the combo appetizer with clams, calmari, and shrip). The service is good, the place is clean, and the vibe is happy.
They have a decent wine list if you're looking for something beyond the local beers. If you are on the spit and looking for a good meal, you can't go wrong here.

Normally, in Homer you have to pay a lot for a few pieces of food. Captain Patties blew the cover off that one. We had a meal that was superb. Large portions, clean restaurant, table service...wonderful! We ordered Mozzarella sticks, a cheeseburger, crabmeat, and fried oysters. All dishes were were delicious, but the best part was the price...cheaper than the other restaurants that are self-serve.
Pros: Tasty food, great portions and prices
Cons: None

Excellent home cooking. Any meal, any time. Generous portions at reasonable prices. Nothing fancy, just good food. If you want waiters in tails and tie, don't go here. If you want great food served by people who treat you like the next door neighbor, this is the place in Homer.

Cosmic Kitchen is the best Tex-Mex in town by a mile. We love the place - super hippy style, delicious healthy food, mellow relaxing atmosphere, and gigantic portions. Get everything smothered - you want all the extra enchilada sauce. Breakfast, lunch, and now dinner is available. If you are in Homer, this is a must eat place.
