The dirty table clothes, shabby decor and foam appetizer plates might be considered charming by some, but it's definitely not for me. In a windowless neon lit empty dining room, 10 waitresses ignore you as you enter. Since they all seem to be from a former "cell", you should wait until you're spoken to for fear of being "cut" and left to ... on their dirty floor. Is it a prison or a restaurant? I'm still not certain. How's the food you ask? Does it really matter? The smell of urine and dirt is enough to turn a dog off to steak. I'll be calling in the morning. Let's hope they haven't been bribed by the crooks that run this "joint". This place needs to be shut down. Pros: Exit door isn't locked Cons: You might become a vegetarian

My dad used to live in Hoboken and loved that place, when he met my mom they moved down to Pittsburgh and a few months ago my dad took me there. It was the best steak I have ever had and I still can not stop telling people about the cost of the steak. That steak was so good that I ate the fat and the charred parts that would normally not touch! And, the pickles they give you as an appetizer are just amazing.

I went to the catered dining area, apart from the main dining area. Seems the main dining area is back to back seating-wise, can be very loud. The waiters are friendly and young and willing to please the customer. Prices are a bit higher than normal for steaks and chicken, but well worth it. Pros: food, service Cons: price; street parking/they do validate for lot parking/

Let's face it, you go (or I should say, I used to go) to Arthur's for an inexpensive but acceptable steak and a good cheap beer, right? I have been visiting Arthurs for many years and have been moderately pleased (with some few exceptions) with both. But last night, -I gave up. 20 bucks for a piece of gristly, unchewable shoeleather called "our Steak" and a $7+ liter of beer is where I draw the line. It's was one thing when the steak cost 14 or 15 bucks with a $5 beer, but now it just isn't worth it. Either grab yourself an angus berger at Bruger King or save your $$ for a trip to a real steakhouse like Rothmann's or Old Homestead. You'll thank me. Or - go to Arthur's for old time's sake, 'cause this joint won't be around much longer serving this meat. Pros: cheap (formerly), convenient to train Cons: expensive, "Our Steak", service

But if you want a good slab of steak cooked just the way you ask in a comfortable atmosphere with no pretense and served with a giant litre of your favorite draft, take a trip to the nicest part of Hoboken and visit Arthurs on Washington Street. You can order two kinds of steak at Arthurs: 24 oz. or 48 oz. They also do a great lobster and their rack of pork ribs is simply succulent. Don't expect much in the way of fancy sides. If you haven't figured it out yet, Arthurs is a meat-and-potatoes joint with limited variations. But if you go make sure you try the onion soup and try to save room for some killer pumpkin cheesecake for dessert. Pros: inexpensive, large portions, great food Cons: , "rustic" restroom
