I would like to say how much i enjoyed my last visit to Hillsborough's Flying Fish. I took my fiance to dine there on valentine's night. We weren't able to be seated right away, as they were very busy, which is a good thing as my fiance and i decided to wait at the bar. There we met the bartender Claire, who served us Flying Fish original valentine themed cocktails. Once we were seated our server Deirdre greeted us imediately, and was very helpful with assisting us with the menu. Once the food came it was presented wonderfully and was insanely delicious (I had the "Surf and Turf"), as were the deserts featured that night. I decided to ask to speak to the manager, to compliment them on our great experience. To my surprise I found out that the manager was our server. It was so interesting to meet a restaurant manager so involved in every aspect of the business (I mean she got us our ketchup, and refills). To sum up I very much enjoyed my visit and would reccomend this restaurant to anyone looking for great food and great atmosphere. Thank you Flying Fish.
Pros: Great location, great service, high quality food.
Cons: I didn't find this restaurant sooner.

We were spending a night in Hillsborough, and went in to town close to 10pm, hungry and looking for dinner. Even though it was close to closing time, the service staff were very friendly and enthusiastic, and helpful and attentive even though they had cleared up for the night and we were the last ones there. The food was good, and excellent value for money. My friend was raving about the salmon all evening. All in all a very pleasant experience.

Maple View Farms sells super tasty ice cream and milk (and meat). They sell the milk at Whole Foods, Earth Fare, and Harris Teeter (and maybe other places I don't know about). It comes in glass bottles - you pay a deposit and when you return the bottle to the grocery store, you get your deposit back.
They sell ice cream at their farmhouse location in Chapel Hill, as well as their Carrboro location (open seasonally). The ice cream is always good, and they make some unique flavors. The farm in Chapel Hill is protected via a conservation easement with the Triangle Land Conservancy, and it is really neat to drive out there, sit in a rocking chair on the front porch, relax and watch the cows.

This restaurant is literally my favorite in all of the Triangle area. My husband and I go here whenever we have a special occasion, and sometimes when we don't. You can be as casual or as dressy as you want, but most importantly, the ever changing menu is always superb. We have always loved everything that we have ever gotten there. The chef delivers this interesting infusion of Italian and Southern food that you absolutely cannot find anywhere else.
Pros: quaint, quiet restaurant

I would definitely recommend taking a nice scenic ride out to Maple View Ice Cream located between Hillsborough and Carrboro in Orange County. They have a nice selection of ice cream to choose from and it's all made right there from the very cows on their farm. Talk about some fresh ice cream!! It's so good you have to try it!

I love it here and will go any chance I get. You can't really go wrong. Wonderful staff, great salsas, amazing shredded beef, shredded chicken, and pico de gallo. The only thing I wish they had was a salsa bar like the one in Chapel Hill. I've never had a bad experience here.
Pros: Best Mexican food in the triangle

This is the oldest restaurant in operation in Hillsborough. Located in the old West village area on West King Street, their Monday night special is amazing! Rib-eye steak, cooked on the grill in the restaurant, salad and baked potato for under $10!! A family owned business, really nice folks, good food, clean, nice atmosphere, excellent service.

I've only tried the croissants, but they are indicative of the overall quality. I'm not sure what brought a French pastry chef to Hillsborough, NC, but I hope he stays here and open for a very long time.
