More
Snyder's TaeKwonDo America offers training in TaeKwonDo and Brazilian JuJitsu for children and adults, as well as kick-boxing and fitness classes. Run by 5th and 4th degree black belts who are still active in training and competition, the school focuses on developing skills in a supportive, respectful, and fun environment. Children can start as young as age 4, and classes are divided in terms of skill level. Adults have classes separate from children. Instructors are carefully trained. Most classes are offered in the afternoon or evening, though Saturday morning classes are offered, and there are morning fitness classes offered periodically. Costs are reasonable, though there is a three-month cancellation policy. Two-week trial periods are also sometimes available, and automatic payment plans can be set up.

The staff at the Archdale Public Library is very friendly. They have a wide selection of literature, computers, and even story time for the little ones. Sometimes they even have visiting storytellers, music, and magicians. They have meeting facilities as well that can be reserved. They also participate in the summer reading program. The Archdale Public Library is a great place to encourage reading!

There are two mini golf courses, which are fun but very plain. There is also in indoor arcade, and some of the games give tickets that can be redeemed for prizes. Additionally, there is a small snack bar. While a bit run down, this is nonetheless a good place to take the kids for a couple of hours. There are several arcade games that can be played by fairly young children. This place also welcomes groups and birthday parties.

I went in for a bike rack for a childrens girls bike. This really isn't an easy thing to find. They were very helpful and I didn't want to spend a lot. Most racks are set up for larger bikes but they had a set up for my SUV that fits my back window. They showed me how to set it up and even the first few times I took it over and they showed me again. Really nice folks there.

Located right off Wendover Ave., not far from Eastchester Dr., this park is a gem. There are sports fields, picnic pavilions, and a small play area for kids. In addition, this is a great access point for the Greenway recreational path, and from here you can run or bike through a nice area with varied scenery. Restroom facilities are also located at the end of the driveway.

What a superb hobby shop! If you are looking for a specific item for your favorite hobby -- KC Hobby has it! And if they don't, they are willing to help you find it. This hobby shop has an excellent selection of products. Prices are average. The biggest perk of this store is their staff. They are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. They have always helped me find the right products for my model airplanes. They also helped me find a model airplane club as well as good fields to practice flying my model airplanes. Their knowledge and friendliness make this the only hobby shop for me -- and it is a 20 mile drive for me.

More
The PEC is free and open to the public during daylight hours. There is a center with a few animals and reptiles on display, information about the flora and fauna of the area, and a giant outdoor map of North Carolina. There are also occasional events, such as a wildflower sale and a Halloween trail walk. A professional naturalist is generally available to answer questions or handle pre-arranged kid's activities, like scout hikes or school field trips. However, the real jewel of the PEC is the walking trails through a variety of terrains. Even though the PEC is not far from the center of town, these trails feel like the middle of the forest, and can be hiked or run in anywhere from 20 minutes to a couple of hours. Leashed dogs are also allowed, so this is a great place to take Fido to get some outside exercise.

This place looks a little run down, but it is a great place for kids and adults to roller skate. The music tends to be pretty loud, but there is always supervision on the rink, and the staff breaks up the skating with games and races. There is a small snack bar, though selection is very limited. There are lots of open skate times, and frequent theme skates, like "Christian Music Night." This is also a fairly good deal for larger kid's birthday parties.
