The Volcano Lodge and Cabins (about 3 miles away) is great because it is the only place to stay within the Volcano National Park. The views from the dining hall can't be beat, but don't expect anything better than cafeteria food. If you stay in the Namakani Paio cabins as we did, be prepared for rustic. They provide sheets, but we were thankful that we brought sleeping bags. There were spiders and cobwebs that are harmless but I'm sure they are difficult to keep away as the cabins are not completely sealed. Bathrooms are a short walk away. We had a great time, but I wanted to post here because their website is not very clear about the quality of the cabins.

Volcano Golf Course is located on the Big Island. I played there once with a few of my friends. The course difficulty was moderate. The grounds were pretty well maintained and had a peaceful feeling to it. In addition to playing on the course you also get a scenic tour where you feel in touch with nature. Usually I get pretty hot playing golf in Hawaii gut the weather when I played there was actually pretty cold ( I should have brought a jacket). Cost is about $63 a person.

KMC is located in the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park on the Big Island. It's location is ideal and convenient for visitors intent on touring the Park. You can begin your hiking adventures from "home" or hop in the car and drive a short to moderate distance to any of the sites within the Park. We stayed at one of the cottages at KMC. We loved that our cottage had a fireplace and blankets to keep us warm at 4000 feet up on Kilauea! Other details such as the flashlights and umbrella were nice as we didn't have these with us. Lodging fares are inexpensive and well worth what you receive. KMC is like a little town in itself -- a cafeteria, general store, and rec center (bowling alley, video games, etc) are all within walking distance, and tours of the Park are offered for small fees. KMC has it all and we look forward to a return visit!
