If you are going to Hana, you this is a stop you have to make. Hasegawa's is the pit stop for a trip to Hana. You go there to stretch your legs, and pick up something to drink or eat. They truly are a sundries store, and you will find all kinds of staples mixed with all kinds of souvenirs. They even have their own logo for t-shirts. When you say you went to Hana, you'll be asked "did you stop at Hasegawa's?"

My husband and I always stay at Hotel Hana Maui when in Hana. No mystery there, they're the only game in town when it comes to a high end hotel in the East Side.
I recommend their Oceanfront Cottages, the ones with the jaccuzzi on the lanai. All day, you can hear the surf break. Rockin'!
You can also dispense with the whole valet thing since you can just drive up to your cottage when coming in from the beach or fresh from your loco moco scouting trip. (across the street).
Anyhoo, not bad. Not great, but not bad.

We had our lunch here it was fabulous. After our journey up the Hana Hwy. it was a scenic place to stop and take a break before taking our hike to the waterfalls. I would recommend to anyone, family friendly and great food.

What can I say? You are staying in the middle of a tropical flower farm, with a hot tub on your front porch (lanai), in Hana. You have total privacy (save the occassional lizard).
Before you drive to Hana, stock up on groceries - Hana is very secluded. Oddly, it is nearly impossible to buy seafood there. The small groceries sell mostly beef and chicken.
We loved the Tradewind Cottages for their seclusion and the scenery. We would definitely stay there again.

If you need an inexpenisive place to stay in Hana, try Joe's Place. The best part was cooking and sharing meals with the other guests from all over the world. It's simple, but clean and friendly.

The studios are only $45 and the larger unit is $75. It's 8 miles from Hana so it's a long haul down the lonely highway. Not real fancy here but it's got charm.

The Hana Kai Maui Resort is well maintained and offer a lot for the money. Rates vary for their studio and deluxe one-bedroom apartments. All have a private lanai with outstanding views of the bay, maid service, laundry facilities, and barbecues. The views couldn't be more spectacular as the grounds, laid out in a lovely garden. If you are looking for a reasonable accomodation with fantastic views, then this is the place for you.

First off, this is Hana not Disneyland. This hotel reflects what Hana is like... relaxed, natural and inviting. This hotel might not be the Hilton but one comes here to get away from the city so expect just as much. We stayed here for 2 nights in their tree house and I loved it.

Heavenly Hana Inn is the second most famous Hana hotel. It resembles a Japanese ryokan (inn). It has a formal garden and an open beamed main dining hall. The four suites seem like little apartments broken up into sections by shoji screens. Rates are reasonable at this bright and homey inn. I would recommend this comfy and adorable inn to visitors to Hana, Maui.
