I might have made a reservation on another night but I will not patronize any restaurant that is SO rude. I guess that they are SO good that they don't need to be polite to potential customers.
Note to the owners - This is not NY.

Aime E - you're certainly entitled to your opinion - and I have had good and bad Italian food in New York - and I have had good and bad Italian food in Italy - so take the New York attitude someplace else ... Cafe Italia is wonderful - everything is wonderful and I love the tortellini and Balsamic Chicken - the salad dressing is divine (I could drink it and usually ask the waiter to bring me extra so I can dip my bread in it). This is lick your plate good food and a very nice atmosphere - I especially like going there for lunch as it's a great place to talk and I have always had exceptional service. On the weekends you do HAVE to have reservations, but what a great deal - it is so reasonably priced and the no cork fee makes it a great date night out with friends!

The person that said Olive Garden is better...shame on them!! This place is totally awesome from beginning to end! This is fine, true Italian cooking at it's best...everything is fresh and perfect. Best escargot I have ever had and the fried calamari is never tough and has just the right amount of spices. Everything from the perfect lasagna to the steak Opua ( an 8oz filet that is fork tender and sauce so thick and rich) is to die for and you get to bring your own wine!! Just imagine a wonderful place like this in the middle of Grapevine

Now...to anyone else...this restaurant is wonderful, and has NEVER failed to please my wife and I. Everything we've had has been wonderful...appetizers to salad to bread to entree to dessert (I wasn't a tiramisu fan until I tried this one). Particular standouts include the lobster ravioli, spaghetti with meat sauce, lasagna, filet opua and any of the great veal dishes. It's an added bonus to be able to select and bring your own wine...with no corkage fee.
When you try Cafe Italia, be sure to call ahead (preferably several days in advance) for a reservation. Try it...you won't be disappointed...unless you like assembly-line chain Italian restaurants. If that's you...thank you for leaving your table open for us!

I just love going to Cafe Italia. I like the older one on Northwest Hwy in Grapevine the best (A tastefully converted Taco Bell building) The menus of the two locations are the same, but the one on NW Hwy has the best atmosphere and in spite of my description that it is an old converted taco bell, is pretty romantic! This is not contrived kitsch like Buca di Beppo. At Cafe Italia, the kitsch just happened in spite of what the owners intended. As another reviewer said, it looks like a place married guys take their mistress. I say to you, Guy, this is a good thing! And, excuse me, other reviewer guy from New York City who thinks he knows what good Italian food is, Cafe Italia is not in New York City! This food is more like Buffalo. Hah! Take that! Or maybe it's just some guys from Macedonia trying to do the best Italian they can in Grapevine Texas, which is pretty darn good!
The evening specials are always fantastic! The chef is very accomplished and sticks to tradition. Delictely prepared and delicious seafood specials are worth trying. Well, any of the specials are worth trying. The entree always comes with a little side of pasta with marinara sauce. This side dish is OK, not great, but this little touch reminds me of the neighborhood italian restaurants I grew up with in New York City. The Chicken Marsala is my favorite thing on the menu. It has an awesome dark slightly sweet and sour sauce with lots of big mushrooms. You can bring your own wine. The bread is this wonderful fluffy white warm loaf reminiscent of the 1960's, dare I say Wonder-bread-like ?. A complete departure from the earthy firebrick oven gourmet breads you may get at other Italian restaurants. But that's OK, it is part of the charm! And your inner kid says Yes! The prices are reasonable and be prepared to wait for a table. The place is always crowded.

The best Capellini Pomodoro ever! The sauce is delicious, fresh, and the better than any other available in this area. I would recommend Cafe Italia to any and everyone.

Great food and BYOB! The rigatoni with vodka sauce is great as is the Veal Marsala. An excellent place for lunch and prices are less than in the evening.

Disregard other reviews. This is THE place o get italian food in Grapvine. I have been several times. You can bring your own winw with no corkage fee! The sauces are all handmade. THis is an italian family running this place. This restaurant puts others to shame (especially chains such as Olive Garden). The pink vodka sauce is the way to go...ask for the Sunrise Chicken (sun dried tomatoes, pink vodka sauce, pasta). The fried calamarui is good as well.
