The Gaylord Texan is huge! It is a giant hotel but its service isn't lost in its size. Great place for a staycation. Lots of amenities from the restaurants and the Glass Cactus on site to the historic Main Street area of Grapevine and the shopping and restaurants there to Grapevine Mills Mall to the Cowboys Golf Courseto Lake Grapevine and also hiking and biking trails. Definitely recommend it.
Pros: Tons of amenities and unique in size and feel
Cons: Parking can be a pain

My husband and I wanted to go somewhere special for our 27th wedding anniversary. This place was a nightmare. The rooms were small and the balcony for viewing the atrium is so small it is not really safe for two people. The beds were rock hard! There was no sleeping and in addition to the beds, at 5 am someone programed the in room alarm to play hispanic dance music every 5 minutes for a hour. The shower produced such low water pressure that we actually checked out and went home to shower. This was a very expensive lesson to learn, but I am glad we did this so we can tell others. My husband has worked in Radio in Dallas for 14 years and believe me, we will share our experience with everyone. This hotel is a great place to visit, share a meal and shop, but don't spend the night!
Pros: beautiful scenery
Cons: uncomfortable rooms

I can get this experience at a roadside motel and save hundreds.. Conference held there two years in a row - bad omen. First experience terrible.. could not get the room requested some pisspoor excuse about not having any.. 2nd year really pestered about the room type.. I got it but everything else was down hill. Texas station was a joke for service and prices, rooms were especially small, BEDS were ROCK SLABS .. no support staff didnt care. for a conference coupled with vacation, 1700 in room, resort fee (whatever the hell that is; over priced parking) charges was a car jacking. better to stay at the Great Wolf or down the roady at a Hilton/Embassy suites.

From check-in this gift ,a package special, was a total letdown.
We were given nothing to confirm for us what we were getting or were entitled to. The retail store discounts weren't honored and you're supposed to have a coupon or voucher for the free breakfast buffet or it isn't free. These were rectified but only with a trip each time to the desk.
The luxury robes we get at all other hotels, you know the ones, thick terry so heavy it's crazy, at the Gaylord were see through sheer nothings!
The beds were very uncomfortable.
Our champagne cheese tray must have been in the room for hours. Room service food was horrible.
This sounds so awful but it's all true. This was not the luxury mega star hotel we expected and our gift giver intended.
Rude staff was the norm not the typical.
We have received so much more for SO much less at other hotels.
Beware.
12/9/2008 update, After several calls back and forth, absolutely NO resolution, no credit, no refunds, credit recd only for horrible room service food, NOTHING ELSE GIVEN, NO CREDIT NO FUTURE "PLEASE TRY US AGAIN" NOTHING. Obviously from reviews after ours this Hotel has really gone to the dogs. Look Elsewhere

I took my husband for their "Just the two of us" package. I bought it with one of their gift certificates. When we made the reservation they asked for a credit card to hold the room, no problem I gave it to them. When we checked in I let them know I had bought a gift certificate from them for this certain package. Then they need to see a credit card for any extras that may be charged. No problem I gave them one. After all was said and done I was charged full price times 3, over $1900.00. I have been trying to get all the charges reversed. It has been a nightmare! They seem to think this is all normal buisness. I will NEVER use one of their hotels again. So much for that relaxing, romantic weekend!

The Gaylord in Grapevine ,just north of DFW airport in Grapevine,TX, is a wonderful resort. I was there for a convention & the setup with the covered parking, convention center & hotel all in one place was very convenient. Although smaller than the Nashville Gaylord, it has the same atrium covered greenhouse layout. The landscaping inside and outside is spectacular with jogging trails out to Lake Grapevine. My standard room on the 8th floor faced the lake with great sunset views. They are building a hotel annex so I don't know how long those views will last . A separate nightclub is on the lake across from the lobby& besides dj's and local bands offer visiting country western singers. There were indoor fireworks on Friday night ( during the summer ) which was an unusual treat. Staff were helpful & friendly. The outdoor pool area was small & ordinary though the crowds seemed to be having a good time. The 2 restaurants I tried (Texan Station and Ama Lur) tended to be pricey and good but not great . There is a 24 hour coffee Starbucks type area which was convenient- good cookies- but stay away from the soggy sandwiches in the cooler. I also liked how there was a guest laundry available as well as a refrigerator in the room. The hotel is about 30 miles from both Ft. Worth & Dallas & is convenient to both (outside of rush hour). Overall a great experience.

I stayed at the Gaylord for a four day convention. I have to say just driving up to the property was amazing. The landscaping and attention to detail was something like you would see at Sea World or Disney. The entrance, lobby, resturants, courtyard... all were amazing. They really put a lot of time and money into this place and it really shows. Checkin was very easy. I was given a key card to a room that someone was in already. The staff was very empathetic and very quick to upgrade me to a suite.
The Staff must have had some customer service training as a requirement because they were all so helpful and nice. I went to the sports bar (fantastic by the way with all the tv screens) one night and was ordering drinks at the bar with some friends and we went back the next night and the bar tender must have remembered my name off of my tab and immediately greeted me "Welcome back Mr. Smith"
Everything from the Glass Cactus, to the cigar bar with an on hand cigar specialist, this was the best place I have ever stayed at.
I want to go back with my family..... Thanks to all the staff of the Gaylord for making a great experience..
Pros: Everything in one place

I loved the hotel, and everything it had to explore. There was only one small ($1.50) item that I was so unhappy about. I had purchased a box of cowtown cookies in the gift shop (the one that opens early) and I found that it was over one year expired. I would have loved to have given them to my grandson, but was glad I didn't. I only wish I could have a box of updated cookies to replace the box I had to throw away. Again...the hotel and the people that work there were exceptional!

This is the best Hotel that I have ever stayed at! I absolutely recommend it for anyone who is visiting texas. It is the perfect mix of everything. If you enjoy being busy, it has events going on every night, the glass cactus and transportation all the time. If you enjoy the peace and quiet it offers that too, with its amazing day spa and fantastic and spacious rooms.

We decided to stay home & spend a long weekend vacation in Dallas, since we never have a free period of time due to sports tournaments, etc... We chose the Gaylord since we had heard so much about it. It was a very nice facility; however, it seemed better suited to conventions, meetings, and large groups.
