Very unique and impressive place built overlooking Lake Grapevine. The view and the building are the best part. You definitely are helping to pay for the fancy building and the view every time you buy a drink. I would say it is worth checking out and you will quickly ave your own opinion. I am not in love with it but it is a fun place to check out every once in a while to do something different. Definitely a nice amenity for those staying at the Gaylord, but I would also recommend to those people to make the short trip over to historic Main Street in Grapevine and check out some of the places over there.
Pros: The view and building
Cons: Expensive

First impression, parking; of course the hired valets utilize the close by parking for their conveniance... STRIKE ONE. Then the POS "ID Taker"; " we have to check all id's" he grabs our licenses and then scans them into a scanner, uh, EXCUSE ME, privacy!, Why does the GC need our personal information? they DON'T, Strike TWO.Then we walk in as "VIP Guests" (Our party of 6 reserved a table, min $100 per couple had to be spent). We are "escorted" though the fairly nice lobby once the hostess felt like it was time to take us to our "barnlike "table. Stepping on a dirty, sticky floor into a large high school auditoriuom we could tell very quickly that this JOKE of a place was not anything that it is cracked up to be. STRIKE THREE (We have been there for 6 minutes) Then the $250.00 bottle of vodka, the pain continues. Drinks that could not be made to our liking by a very inexperienced hostess and a crowd that was circus-like to put it mildly. This is NOT a NY club, this is not a SOBE club. This place is simply an overpriced joke of a wannabe that will never be. Low class, cheesy, overpriced, dirty, obnoxious. It is a wonder that ANYONE patronages this establishment.
Pros: NONE
Cons: Parking, door "guy", dirty, overpriced, atmosphere

We have been to the Cactus about 10 times over the last year. The atmosphere is really nice & it is really close to home for us. HOWEVER, the PRICE GOUGING is unbelievable! I am really just ticked about the whole flipping thing! Whether we are with a large group, double dating or by ourselves-it happens time & time again. The price of drinks varies from waitress to waitress, bartender to bartender - WE MADE A GAME OF IT - testing to see if in fact it was really happening. We involved several of the party with us, went station to station-waitress to waitress.... You would have been amazed at the differences.
True Example: Waitress#1=$8.00 bottled beer, Bartender #1=$5.50, Waitress#2=$7.50, Bartender#2=$5.00
You would not believe the variety of prices we got for SHOTS (same shot, ordered the same way everytime)
RIDICULOUS!
We do have ONE exception: Bartender at the 1st bar on the RIGHT as you pass thru entrance. He wears a hat. He did not over price things, he made eye contact, was attentive, cordial etc.
The WORST was the bartenders in the back bar & the outside bar - DON'T even get me started on the waitresses - YIKES!!!! BEST ADVICE: "DO NOT RUN A TAB WITH WAITRESS" ***VERY bad idea***
PROS: Great Ambiance - Le Freak is the best (get there early) - Texas Unlimited is great too
Bartender (wears hat) at 1st station was the better of the employees.
Good Luck!
Cons: Prices, Ouch

We have been to the Cactus about 10 times in the last year.We have been in a variety of groups, couples,by ourselves. There has not been one time that we have NOT had a problem with the multitude of prices you get from one bartender/waitress to the next. We even pulled out the menu-which clearly states the price of a bottled beer-our waitress was confused by this. She had charged us $8.00 for ONE bottled beer! That is nearly twice the menu price-she never came back to our area. SAME issue with the bartenders-Prices were all over the place. We started a game of it-going from bartender to bartender and ordering the same thing;the prices ranged from $5.00 to $11.00-YES, you are reading this correctly! We narrowed it down to ONE bartender that was pretty cut&dry with his pricing (reasonable)-He wears a hat and is at the 1st bar to your RIGHT as you come in. The back bar and the outside bar were the absolute worst and DON'T even get me started on the waitress' YIKES! We were with a party of 30 guests this past weekend, celebrating a birthday.

I stayed at the Gaylord for a four day convention. I have to say just driving up to the property was amazing. The landscaping and attention to detail was something like you would see at Sea World or Disney. The entrance, lobby, resturants, courtyard... all were amazing. They really put a lot of time and money into this place and it really shows. Checkin was very easy. I was given a key card to a room that someone was in already. The staff was very empathetic and very quick to upgrade me to a suite.
The Staff must have had some customer service training as a requirement because they were all so helpful and nice. I went to the sports bar (fantastic by the way with all the tv screens) one night and was ordering drinks at the bar with some friends and we went back the next night and the bar tender must have remembered my name off of my tab and immediately greeted me "Welcome back Mr. Smith"
Everything from the Glass Cactus, to the cigar bar with an on hand cigar specialist, this was the best place I have ever stayed at.
I want to go back with my family..... Thanks to all the staff of the Gaylord for making a great experience..
Pros: I loved it here and want to bring the family
Cons: People that don't travel much really can't appreciate this place

I took my wife here for an anniversary drink, to watch the sunset, thinking it would be romantic.
#1 Rip-off. We arrived at 5 PM, the only customers. They were still making the place ready and had to call for a hostess. After waiting several minutes, a young woman came out from somewhere, chewing something. I suppose she was eating??? She told us $11 cover to enter. For what I asked. For this event she said pointing to an event card. Oh, what time? 10 PM I told her we were here for 1-2 cocktails and would be gone in 1-2 hours. No exceptions was her answer. I asked that she check with a manager. Yes, no exceptions. OK, we paid.
#2 Rip-off - Over the next 90 minutes, we had 4 cocktails, 2 vodla martinis on the rocks and 2 margaritas on the rocks. I was stunned at the check --- $52 for 4 drinks. Amazing!
#3Rip-off - Parking. Between rounds of drinks I went to get a jacket from the car for my wife. The valet said I could not go into the parking area but he would bring the car around. OK, and then he was obviously expecting a tip. All I had were $20's and a $5. OK, the $5.
At 6:30 we were leaving, still in shock over the $52 tab for drinks. As we approached valet, I could see that we were still the only car in the lot. I gave the ticket to the guy and he said $10. For what, I asked. Thats the charge for valet parking. As he brought the car around, I could see that he still expected a tip. Normally, I would not stiff a worker, but after the triple rip-off, I could not dig down again.
Stay away from this place!

I have to say, I always wanted to be famous and get in all the great clubs and ... but tonight, I felt like i was a part of the Hills or Paris Hilton! LOL I know that sounds bad, but i truly had a BLAST!! Drinks were STRONG, there was a James Brown type band that was AMAZING and I was shaking my booty all night long! I'm telling all my friends and I will make this a regular hang out!!
