I would go back here again in a heart beat! My 2.5 year old loved it! She would have been here all day. We were there when it was quite busy with school field trips, but we still had a good time. I have been told they change their theme yearly. There are two floors with about a half dozen small exhibits on each one.

We recently brought our three girls here, and they had a blast. They are 4, 3, and 3 years old, and have since begged and begged to return, so we did! Lots of fun for all ages...they particularly enjoyed the grocery store, post office, and bank displays which offer hands on playing. They also like the bubbles and the working bee hive. Very cool! They change exhibits frequently so it is fun to return, and the price is reasonable at $4.00 a person. We purchased a Pals membership, so entrance is free, and they offer exchanges with other places each month. So in May, John Ball Zoo is free, and in June, the Meijer Gardens are free, etc. Definitely a great investment.

This was a lot of fun for my kids to visit. They enjoyed most of the exhibits but especially the Dr. Seus exhibit that was on at the time. They got to play dress and climb through all these contraptions from the Dr. Seus books. I really think they learned a lot and retained what they learned.

I have a different perspective on this place, as I am not a parent or babysitter, and have never been to the museum with a kid. However, when I was in college, my dorm held its annual banquet at the Children's Museum. I thought that it would be weird, and I have no idea who came up with the location, but I have to applaud them. This place is tons of fun! Picture a whole bunch of 20-year-olds all dressed up and playing in bubbles and on a toy car and you will get the picture. I was amazed at how many different interactive displays they had there, and all the different ways that the museum used its amenities to both attract and teach children. I have seen other children's displays at museums and the ones here seemed much fresher and more innovative. The building is a unique size and shape, but the museum has done a good job in terms of layout and flow so that things are not crammed together and the kids (or kids at heart) have enough room to really explore the displays. This is definitely a good asset to Grand Rapids.

I took my 2 year old and 11 month old and they both had a blast! There are so many activities for all age groups from trains to bubbles to shopping to sand! and they had a designated story time. I thought it was relatively cheap and well worth the price. We got there right when it opened so parking was not a problem but during busy times parking is kind of a pain.
The staff was also very interactive in showing the kids how to use the different stations and constantly cleaning up and putting toys away, not to mention very friendly and social!

Wow! This place is awesome! My children (ages 5 and 2) can spend hours here and never get bored! The museum has so many activities for both of my children. I especially like the special classes and crafts that are offered for no additional cost. From the bubble makers, to the instruments, to the construction zone, the museum is a destination that is well worth the cost of admission! The only way to improve would be to have on site parking. The meters out front are always full and the closest parking lot is still a bit of a hike...especially in the winter with 2 kids in tow.

My Son had his 2nd Birthday party at the Grand Rapids Children's Museum.
What a wonderful place! There was enough stuff to keep the kids busy all day long. They have different areas of play and it's really a neat place.
The staff is wonderful and the room that we had for the birthday party was clean, bright and friendly. They did a marching band around the museum that all the kids go to particpate in. We have some great pictures from the party. My son still talks about his birthday party at the museum.
A Wonderful kid friendly place!

My son is 2 and last weekend I decided I'd wander around the Children's Museum with him, I didn't ever expect him to be interested in the attractions and the sights, but he seemed to be - they have such a hands on place for kids to play, grow and explore if you want to watch your child's face fill with wonder it really is worth the trip downtown to see such a great little piece of history where the kids can have fun with a hands on learning experience.

What a wonderful way to let your kids play and experience new things without having to shell out $9 a kid! I went here recently and was so pleasantly surprised that I didn't have to pay an arm & a leg for everybody to enjoy the museum.
And it was so great ~ for both my 3 year old and my 14-month old. They made slime and played in the VW bug and had fun at the little shopping area there!
I highly recommend taking your children to the museum. They change the themes and I'm not sure if the Community Workers theme is still there or not. But it's a great time for all!

There is even a special area for toddlers--complete with a padded play are for the littlest of ones. The Children's Museum also offers rooms to rent for birthday parties at an excellent rate. Favorites exhibits of my children include the bubble area and the construction zone. This museum is lots of fun--visit it soon!!
