Visted Dallas County Auto Salvage searching for a transmission for my Dodge truck. Got a great deal on it and even worked out a way for them to ship it to my dad in Louisiana. Really cool people to work with. And yes I paid CASH without any problem!! (Duh, its a salvage yard)
Pros: Knowledgeable staff, good prices
Cons: What are the drawbacks?

I have bought my past 2 vehicles from this dealership and will continue to buy from them as long as I buy Chevy prodects. The people are very nice, when I bought my Avalanche they did everything they could to get me the best deal and I wound up with 0% interest! The salesmen here were not pushy and they let me have all the time I wanted to shop the lot......without being hassled!

Being a female, I always dread taking a vehicle to a mechanic. I contacted these folks bright and early one morning to see if I could could have a truck towed to them and looked at same day. Being told yes, and still being skeptical, I went to see them. I was greeted by the owner Greg , a very friendly, outgoing gentleman. I explained my situation to him, afraid that it was going to be a major transmission problem. I was contacted a couple of hours later and told that the truck was ready to be picked up and that what I thought was a major problem was really very minor and had been repaired. 3 hours and less than $100 later the truck was back on the road.

Rather than wait for our transmission to die on us after it started making a clunking noise, we asked around to find someone to do preventative maintenance. Ed's came highly recommended and we weren't disappointed.
The mechanic was able to guess what was wrong just from hearing the noise and gave us an estimate based on that. Turns out that he was right on about what the problem was. He was up front about not doing any work to the truck over what he estimated without speaking to us first.
They did need to keep the truck an extra day because they weren't able to flash the computer there, they needed to take it to Ford and couldn't get it done early enough in the day. This service caused it to go over the estimated cost but he called and explained everything before having it done.
I wouldn't call Ed's a bargain but you get great service and peace of mind for your money. I would definitely trust them to work on another of our cars.

Grand Prairie Ford STAY AWAY!!!!!!!! I purchased a 2009 Roush Mustang ($54,000) when spending this amount of money you don't expect to find things wrong with the car like pulling to the left, shaking violently at 60 mph, air condition vent broken, seat had tear that had been poorly patched, rust on chrome wheels, molding coming up, clear coat coming off. I can keep going on and on but to make this story short, I contacted Keith Sheldon (General Manager) and he told me they don't cover warranty work on Roush mustangs anymore even though I confirmed they do through Roush. He sent me to a dealership some 60 miles away to have the repair work done. When I asked Keith If could get a loaner since the car was going to take 5 days to fix everything, he told me that if I would have bought the extended warranty he might have considered it. I asked him if he thought I was ever going to buy another car from him again and he said "no" and I said you don't even care and he said "no" he went on to tell me that he thought I could not afford the car that I bought and that I am just always trying to get something for free. All I want is for my car to be fixed, here we are 3 months later and I am still having problems with the car. Please don't do business with them, you will be sorry you did
Pros: None
Cons: The whole experience

The carburetor flooded on my 1974 gmc truck and the gas flow would not shut off. Ray, at carburetor of texas, said he had a carburetor that would work for my 454 ci. engine. Very good service, it was installed the same day I called.
After Patrick installed the carburetor, my truck wouldn't run very good at all. It was fine before, it would barely go afterward. After eliminating other possible reasons, I put it in the shop for a new engine.
Three weeks later, I finally get my truck, on Friday. It still ran the same as before, barely and no power. The common denominator was we used the same carburetor.
I called Ray. He agreed there may be something wrong. However, it would be Monday when Patrick could service my truck.
Monday... Patrick checks my truck, for 2 hours. Finally, he agrees to take the top off the carburetor. Upon further persuasion, he removes the 2 primary metering jets. Those 2 jets are too small for my 454 engine.
This is my work truck. It carries equipment for my business. My truck is my business. No truck, no business. I sold my conversion van to pay for a new engine and sustain me untill it was installed.
Three and a half weeks of lost business. The cost of a new engine, parts, and labor. Those 2 jets that were too small, cost me at least $5,000.
A simple mistake that cost me big time.

I made the trip to Grand Prairie Ford based on an ad in DMN. I?m no stranger to buying cars so I asked question after question looking for the switch and writing my questions before hand. After no less than five phone conversations with Arvin Procter the Event Manager there. I thought I was ready to drive over to see what was really up. I had them run my credit before hand and call me back with an interest rate based on the purchase price of $15K. The rate quoted on two calls was 0 down, 2.9% @ 72 months from Ford Motor Credit. They said my credit qualified me for Tier 1 @ FMC. Asked how many colors do they have ?4-5 this model, 5-6 other model?. I call first en-route Arvin says ?I?ll be waiting?. I get there and he?s gone. Then they take us outside. First thing I notice is we?re on the used car lot ??. I ask where are the new vehicles, ?the special is on these USED rental returns? says the new salesman. They had three only total. Next we go back inside to see the Finance Manger. I ask tell me about the 2.9% @ 72 months with FMC on these 2008 USED vehicles. He said well we can?t get near that with our lenders Chase, Bank One, Wachovia. I said "I?m pre approved by FMC for these terms" and showed him all my notes. He ACTED surprised. That?s a used unit and Ford will not fund that kind of deal. I said I?ve called all these times and asked all these questions and after driving an hour to get here I find I was right after all. There always was a switch in the deal and I found several. Wrong vehicle, missing sales guy (probably was just a call center body used to get me in the door), wrong terms, wrong interest rate, they never even ran my bureau till I was there. THE KICKER: The used advertised vehicle didn?t qualify for FMC?s lower rates after all !!! In a nut shell, Arvin and the Finance Manager (Hispanic Guy ??) are armpit sales guys and need to be removed. Shop & shop before letting any of these dealers corner you into a vehicle. Good Luck!
Pros: Non at all.
Cons: Bait and switch artist big time
