The hotel Colorado was built in 1893 as an elite mountain resort and is listed as a national historic landmark. The hotel has Victorian rooms with tall ceilings, large windows and exposed wiring and pipes. It is a fun way to take a trip back in time. The rooms are not luxurious in todays standards, no fax, no large desks. But they do have character and charm. Think clawfoot tubs, think transom windows. It is also located across the street from the hot spring pool.

We made a mistake...It hurts to confess, but our family of four was in a hurry from Denver to Aspen and we decided not to wait the 15 minutes to get into Juicy's. We went next door to the Riviera and the "knock off" menu not only left a fishy taste in my mouth, but left my two boys hungry looking for a late night snack. Needless to say, we didn't make the same mistake on our way down. Thank you for taking us back, Lucy. We love you guys!

We spent 4th July weekend at the Colorado Hotel. Before we went I read all the reviews on this website and to be honest I did not know what to expect. I called the hotel early on July 4 and requested a early check in and when we arrived at 11:00 am the hotel staff was friendly and ready to accomodate us. Our room was clean, cool and comfortable. I was also concerned about the lack of air conditioning but it was not uncomfortable in the least. I did notice that the Bible was displayed and opened to the 35 Palms and a crystal hanging from the ceiling fan this sent up a red flag due to ghostly experiences in my past. I would also like to add that we took our english bulldog with us and she had the time of her life and was warmly welcomed by the staff and other guests. But getting back to the ghost story on our last night there about 2:00 am I was suddenly awaken by something touching my leg and it wasnt my husband or my dog..... I will add that the Hot Spring pool is overpriced and the rafting trip we took via Big Sky Adventure was more like a float down the river. The Hotel Colorado was worth the expereince.

My family just spent a long weekend in Glenwood Springs, for our childerens Spring Break, And WOW did we have a great time! The natural hot springs pool was amazing. But best of all, was our dinner at the Buffalo Valley! The owner/chef, prepred a Srimp Scampi, tableside, which our kids thought was the greatest!it was delicious! My husband had the Prime rib, which he said was the Best he ever had, and trust me, he knows his Prime rib! We were pleasently surprised with the prices aswell. All the prices include a huge salad bar, plus two sides. All for really resonable prices. No more of the ala carte pricing. The chef, which we came to learn is from Switzerland, and was very personable and friendly. He knew most of all the costumers by name and greeted and said good night to each and everyone of them.( if he wasn't doing his tableside cooking.) The locals obviously come back not just for the food but also his charm. We had such a great evening there! With the pool and the Buffalo Valley, We all can't wait for our next trip to Glenwood Springs!!!!!!
Pros: Great menu, something for everyone! You have your chioce of a romantic setting area,or The Fun western log cabin setting.
Cons: We can't eat there everyday. (we live in Denver)

This hotel is brand new and very nice. I was surprised when I checked to see how well the place was laid out. The rooms are big, clean, new, and nice. They have great wireless internet access. The pool is also nice and clean. The area the hotel is located in is great, it is right next to the lift that takes you up to a great spot on the mountain. Check out the roller coaster up there.

Unbelievable! Every restaurant in town was PACKED but the Riviera Supper Club, and I have NO idea why. Best food, best ambience, quiet and packed with great original art that's for sale! The new owner has really turned that place around! A must if you're in the area!
Pros: Ambience, Food, Service, Intimate, Romantic
Cons: Parking, Small Dining Room

Great Place to eat and awesome BEER! The hanginglake is a rockin' mirco brew. This is one of my top recommendations for a local restaurant in Glenwood Springs. Here's their site, www.thehoteldenver.com/brewpub.html check it out... Other top choices Onion Rings with IPA (makes me sloppy drunk) Pasta with Salmon The classic Bacon Cheese Burger with the Stout
PROS: Very friendly service
CONS: Bar closes a little early.

Burgers, Fries, onion rings, chili, buttered griddled buns. This is right out of the 1950's classic drive-ins, because this place opened in 1952. Where ever you are in the Western Slope do not miss stoping her if you want a good old fashion burger.
Pros: Everything on the menu is great
Cons: This is not fast food. It is cooked to order, so you have to be a little patient.

Clean, comfortable rooms and good value for the price. We stayed here when other plans fell through and were pleasantly surprised at the modest but very accomodating Frontier Inn. Good air conditioning and quiet despite being on the main street. A little further from downtown, but that's a good thing.
Pros: Price, Cleanliness, Parking
Cons: Spartan, but clean, Cont'l Breakfast
