My husband took me to Alfie's, raving about how much he loves the Alfie Burger and he's been eating them since junior high. After trying the burgers, I'm impressed that they are one-of-a-kind, but really not the best I've ever had. On subsequent visits I've had ribs and other items on their menu. Everything is at least good, sometimes better than good. I just don't get the burger thing...
Pros: Good food, casual atmosphere
Cons: a little smoky near the bar

For the last 40 years I have gone to Alfies for the hamburger or cheesburger and never bothered to try anything else the burgers are that good. About ten years ago I tried the ribs. The ribs are as good as any I had at Naperville's rib fest. All the food is good but the burgers and ribs are outstanding. The menu is growing after decades of a menu I could memorize. Maybe in 30 years I might venture away from the burgers and ribs. Maybe
Pros: great burgers, outstanding ribs, ample parking
Cons: can get crowded

I live in New York now, but whenever I'm in Chicago I try to find time to visit Glen Ellyn for dinner at Alfie's. The 40-minute trip is well worth it for the Sir Alfie Cheeseburger. The restaurant is charming and clean, with a softly-lit English Tudor decor. The service is prompt and friendly, the basket of fried mushrooms (with the house horseradish sauce) is a must-have, and for as long as I can remember (going back to the 1970's) there has been a big bucket of Dum-Dum suckers for the kids when they leave. It's a great place for kids; they have a children's menu with a smaller burger, the Master Alfie Burger. I still remember the day my mother first let me order the Sir Alfie. I felt like a grown-up, until I couldn't finish it. It's a big burger.
Pros: Reasonably Priced, Good Parking, Great for Families
Cons: Arrive Early on Wkend

Alfie's has been an extremely rare mainstay in Glen Ellyn. The food is consistant every day, burgers are cooked to order. Sir Alfie Cheeseburger with a slice of raw onion, Grey Poupon' and a Black & Tan ( 1/2 Bass Ale and 1/2 Guiness Stout ) is a GREAT combo!
Everything fits together all the way from the meat to the bun!!!
Pros: Cooked to order, Clean, Service

If your looking for a burger in the Western Suburbs, this is the place to go. The consistency of this place is what amazes me the most. Ive been going to Alfies for over 20 years and you can always count on them for a quality meal at a good price. The service is fast although it does get crowded on the weekend. They dont take reservations so you may have to wait, but it is worth it. Try the Sir Alfie Cheeseburger with a side of onion rings with your favorite beer. Menu is limited, but what they have they do well.
Pros: Inexpensive
Cons: Crowded
