Crowders Mountain, the highest point in Gaston County, views stretch for more than 20 miles. Thing you can do: *Walk the park's many miles of trails. Collect bug for that science project. *Camping, be prepared it is primitive and some of the folks around camping are privative also. Group and back country camping is also available. The man made small lake is open for canoe rides and fishing. you can dip your toes in the water but no swimming allowed. Park hours November-February, 8 a.m.-6 p.m. March and October, 8 a.m.-7 p.m. April, May, September, 8 a.m.-8 p.m. June-August, 8 a.m.-9 p.m. Closed Christmas Day Park office hours 8 a.m.-5 p.m. daily Closed state holidays

If you're ready to really rough it you can go camping up on Crowders Mountain with no electricity. They have "pit" toilets and water nearby but not on the campsite. Oh, it's tent camping only. And you have to hike to the campsite. The park has a man made lake and you can rent canoes to take out for fishing. Swimming is not allowed. They also allow rock climbing if you have a valid permit. Don't even try without permit. You can picnic and grill in the park. And there's also hiking and nature trails. The things that require pricing I think are great deals. It's only nine dollars to camp. That's really cheap compared to other places.
