Awful, awful, awful - unless you enjoy grisssle, grease and fat loaded sandwiches. I got lunch from Jay Bee's for a casual company business meeting - never again. It was awful - and EMBARRASSING. Out of the 12 sandwiches ordered, not one person had anything good say about what had just been eaten. Waste of time - and in this day and age, a definite waste of money. Jay Bee's used to be anticipatedly fabulous. No more. I guess they got too popular and in demand for their own good.

I was watching this place Jay Bee's on the Food Channel and I also don't live far from there so I had interest of driving there, but after reading some reviews on customer service and additudes believe me I rather eat at Tony Roma's . Believe I know as a store owner myself "Customers service is number one" no matter if the customer is right or wrong it's the way to make them wanna come back for more let the product speak for itself . Once the owner gets too cocky for his customers don't expect that person to come back and then spread the news for others to stay away. 1 person + friends = lost of BIG >> $$$$$$$

I visited this place on 6/14/2008; the first thing I noticed is that they have a B grade yuck! I decided that we traveled so far, I might as well try it. The lady at the register made me feel uncomfortable and guilty for using my debit card, she advised me to bring cash next time because apparently they were going to charge more for debit card transactions the following week. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich and a medium mac&cheese. My friends got their food promptly, but I waited and waited and still no one called my number. 15 minutes passed, and I was hungry. I went up to ask if they had called my number, and the lady asked to see my ticket. She told me that the receipt I had was for my debit card transaction, and that I was supposed to have had another ticket with the correct number on it. I never received a second ticket!!! The lady who processed my transaction only gave me one receipt! Apparently I was supposed to have received two, one for my debit card transaction, and another with my number on it. Both ladies were rude, and were not apologetic. I was appalled. Now onto the quality of the food...the sandwich was so gooey with sauce, you couldn?t pick it up with your hands, so I ate it with a fork, not a problem. However, there was no meat, it was all the fatty parts of the pork, I would say about 99% were fatty parts. I was not happy, not at all! The mac&cheese was okay, nothing to rave about. At this point I was stark mad. I waited 15-20 minutes for food, the service was terrible at best, and the food was not appetizing, and to top it off they have a B grade. I will never return to this shoddy establishment if they paid me to do so! Note to self: Do not listen to Guy Fieri's advice. Pros: Nothing Cons: Poor service, rude staff, food is not up to par, B grade, very cold at night.

THIS WAS MY VERY FIRST TIME COMING TO THE RESTARAUNT. I WAS SO VERY EXCITED BECAUSE I HAD SEEN THE RESTARAUNT ON (DINERS DRIVE-INS AD DIVES). SO I ASKED MY SISTER IN LAW TO ACCOMPANY ME THERE FOR LUNCH. WELL WE DIDNT MAKE LUNCH SO I JUST BROUGHT MY YOUNGEST DAUGHTER AND SET OUT TO FIND THE PLACE. THERE WASNT A VERY LONG LINE AND I WAS HAPPY FOR THAT. BUT AFTER I REACHED THE WINDOW EVERYTHING WENT DOWN HILL TO ME. I ORDERED AND COULDNT DECIDE WHETHER I WANTED HOT OR MILD SAUCE. SO I ASKED FOR A SAMPLE OF THE HOT SAUCE. AND WHAT DID I DO THAT FOR. THE CASHIER TOLD THE OWNER WHOSE NAME I DIDNT CATCH AND SHE LOOKED OVER AT ME AND SORT OF ROLLED HER EYES AT ME AND TOLD THE CASHIER IN A NOT SO FRIENDLY WAY (JUST TAKE THE NEXT CUSTOMER). SHE ONCE AGAIN TOLD THE OWNER THAT I WANTED TO TASTE THE HOT SAUCE. SO THE OWNER GOT A FORK AND SAID IN A LOUD VOICE WHEN SOMEONE WANTS TO TASTE THE SAUSE YOU GIVE IT TO THEM LIKE THIS. THEN SHE DIPPED THE FORK IN THE SAUCE AND HANDED IT OUT OF THE WINDOW TO ME. EVERYONE WAS LOOKING AT ME AND SOME WERE SORT OF LAUGHING AND I WAS EVEN MORE EMBARRASSED THEN BEFORE. I THOUGHT THAT WAS VERY RUDE OF HER BEING THE OWNER OF THIS ESTABLISHMENT. BUT SHE SPENT MOST OF THE TIME LAUGHING AND JOKING WITH THIS MAN WHO I GUESS WAS A REGULAR SO HE WAS TREATED POLITELY. BUT ANYWAY I ORDERED A COMBINATION SLICED BEEF AND BEEF LINKS. AND WHEN I BIT INTO IT I FELT THAT IT WASNT EVEN WORTH THE TRIP THAT I MADE FOR IT. I bought a sampling for the entire office so we could try everything!! The pork ribs were excellent! I loved the Hot BBQ sauce, it was a bit too hot for only 1, he's weak! lol The medium had a small kick but the kick of the Hot was perfect to me! We got the pork shoulder, very tender! And a pulled pork sandwich, it had a lot of sauce and if you are one for not a lot of heat, get medium sauce on this one. We got the Beef Ribs, a little tough; I'd stick with the pork, which were perfectly cooked. This is a true BBQ joint, not a cheesy boiled rib place. The Mac and Cheese, so yummy, authentic mac and cheese for those who have never tried it! Coleslaw was not overly dressed and very good. Beans were perfectly cooked and tasted oh so delicious! I kinda went with the other reviews on my side sampling. The coleslaw they ran out of I heard them tell people say so get it while they got it! Oh and the sweet potato pie, yum, yum! The sodas were canned and so cold! So venture out and try this place. There was a great mix of customers, everyone was friendly and hungry for BBQ. Great BBQ brings people together and this is great BBQ. There was a bit of a wait for our big 'ol order, 35 minutes. But those who ordered just a sandwich had them lickety split! The lady at the front counter was very pleasant and helpful. I will definetly be back. I bought a bottle of their Hot BBQ sauce to try to relive the delicious experience brought to you by Jay Bee's! I recently saw this place being showcased on Food TV network, and decided to try it out. My wife and I arrived around 1:30 pm and saw that there were about 10 people waiting for their food. This is usually a good sign when you see people waiting after the lunch hours. We ordered what they showed on the TV, and it took almost 40 minutes before our number was called to pick up our food. The pulled pork sandwich was not bad, but it didn't have enough coleslaw like the one they showed on TV. As for the flavor, I wasn't disappointed. Would I ever go back? I guess I would as long as I was in the neighborhood, which means I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there again. Pros: Ample parking Cons: Waiting time between order and getting the food you ordered.

My friend told me about this place and he said his friend found out about here from a Food Network program. He couldn't remember exactly where it was (and he told me the name was "BJ's" instead of "Jay Bee's") but it was easy for me to find them on Citysearch. I've got a pork shoulder BBQ sandwich, mac n cheese, sweet potato pie and a soda. I got there at 6 pm and when I parked, 3 people were leaving and there was nobody waiting. Unlike the previous reviews, the lady at the counter was smiling and very friendly and helpful. Another reviewer said the sandwich was kind of small, but when I got mine, it was pretty big (I say it had more volume than a Big Mac) and very satisfying, oh and yes, it was DELICIOUS! Except those 2 or 3 plastic tables and chairs outside of this tiny "shack", there are no seating area; this place is for to-go orders. This Citysearch info doesn't say so but they also take credit cards. Now, about the area, sure, it is an industrial area and sure, they did have that protective glass or whatever it's called, but other than that, I didn't think it was THAT scary place to go to. I'm an Asian girl and I just went there by myself and it didn't freak me out. I mean, c'mon, people around here have seen white people. I'm sorry but I wonder what this white girl from Westside "looked like" when she was here? wearing just bras in her pink car or something??? Anyways, back to this place. When I attended Dominguez, my roommate and I would always go to Jay Bee's and enjoyed the BBQ beef sandwich. This was our spot after a hard day of studying. Well I was craving some BBQ and decided to check out the old spot. That was about 8 years ago and I haven't been back since. I cannot stand it when someone is rude and unprofessional when handling my food. At the very least you can smile and greet your customer. This was new to me because I remember this place being really friendly. The person who was taking my order was huffing and puffing, wasn't helpful with the specials, and just had an all around nasty attitude. Needless to say, I left without the BBQ because I refused to give them my money and be treated like I wasn't a valued customer. The BBQ wasn't great at all. I frequented the place because of the good BBQ and the GREAT service. I was so happy when Lucille's stomped into town. At least they care about customer service AND the food is great. Some establishments need to realize that having excellent customer service is an asset to their company. Pros: Okay BBQ Cons: Very poor service
