The title says it all, if you're a fan of sushi. Admittedly, there are few choices for sushi on the island, but this is the only one to consider. Great range of hand rolls, sushi, sashimi, tempura and full meals. They have great cocktails and wonderful happy hour specials. Might I suggest the Louisianna rolls and the tempura bananas dessert, my personal favorites.
Bottom Line: The only place to consider for sushi in Galveston. Enjoy the intimate atmosphere.

That's right, I said it. Finally, a great place to get cheap, fast, fresh breakfast burritos close to UTMB (walking distance). It's a favorite among those who know about it, so hopefully the word will get out. They make em how you want em, have great salsa, and provide an overall pleasurable experience. 1 is usually enough, but if you're really hurting post-call, go for 2 before taking a nap.
Bottom Line: Breakfast tacos cannot be beat. Haven't been there for other meals, but assume the food is good as well.

My size makes it difficult to tailor suits properly. I know this because after paying >$100 for a suit to be taylored in Houston, it still looked like crap. Fortunately for me, What A Seam was able to not only reverse the damage, but make it fit perfectly. How much? Less than $20!!! That's right. I was so impressed I had no problem letting this same shop tailor the tuxedo for my wedding. Of course, it came out perfectly as well (and in less than a week). There is truly no better seamstress in Galveston or the surrounding Houston Metropolitan area.
Bottom Line: if you need alterations, you'd be crazy to go anywhere else.

Alright, this is the place to be for working out. The newly remodelled weight room offers weights for everyone, with plenty of cardio machines. There is a basketball court, swimming pool, sports field for softball and soccer, tennis courts and raquetball courts. During the appropriate seasons there are intramural sports leagues for soccer, basketball, flag football, etc. There is an outdoor track for those that want to run outside. Basically, if you want to do something, you can do it here.
Bottom Line: The place to get and stay in shape.

If you've never heard of the 1900s storm, you should just leave Galveston or never visit. If you've heard of it and always wondered what sort of damage was really done, you need to see this movie. Pieced together from still shots and other footage, this 20 minute movie puts together the before, during and after. Viewers can truly see what was done, and how far the island has come since then. The price is a little high, but worth it to get a lesson in something so important in Galveston's history.
Bottom Line: Locals and visitors alike need to see this, it's that good.

This clinic is superb. Everyone involved, from the receptionists to the nursing staff to the physicians are top notch, putting the patient first in a medical climate that currently does anything but. The appointments are 30 minutes for follow up, and 1 hour for new patients (compare that to 10 mins follow up and 15mins new patient). Everyone is there to help, and willing to do what they can to make you feel comfortable and fix whatever your problems are. Truly a great clinic.
Bottom Line: If you need a PCP, choose a physician in this clinic, you won't regret it.

We went in to kill some time and decided to go and see this movie. We were actually really surprised at how interesting it was and had me near tears in parts just imaging what the people that lived there went through. This is a must for anyone that is visiting Galveston. It gives you a much better respect for the island and island life.

We attended this theater for the first time last year at Christmas time to see Santaland Diaries. It's an adorable small theater in the historic district. Before the performance we went to a nice bar beside it for coffee and it was wonderful. The performance was great, we laughed through the entire thing and when it was over, the actor came outide to meet us. We were all really impressed with this theater.

These are the best hamburger that I have ever eaten. The patties are extremely juicy and fresh. The deco isn't very fancy, but its clean. If you are lucky, then you can get a buy one get one free coupon. I would definitely check this place out, on your next trip to Galveston. It is definitely worth the drive.

It was like staying in your own home, but we the ones being spoiled! the house was quiet, relaxing and clean. the food was wonderful and lana makes a great hostess. she made my engagement even more special - the chocolate covered strawberries were oh so delicious and the champagne was bubbly and cold! i cant wait for another chance at a weekend get-a-way!
Pros: Off the touristy strand and seawall areas
Cons: I can't think of one........
