Fried Green Tomatoes is Galena is beautiful restaurant in downtown. They have large windows in the main dining room and wonderful real rock walls. Their staff is very well trained and their wine list along with liquor selection is top notch. The dinner menu changes seasonally, my husband had the duck which was done in a raspberry sauce and I had the pork osso buco with sweet potatoes which was fall off the bone good! This is our favorite restaurant in Galena because their food is homemade and they have a great staff.
Fried Green is a great place for your birthday or anniversary. Coming during the week is better and if you come on the weekends a reservation is a must, but they do have valet parking.

You could make a whole meal just out of their cheese bread! They are huge. During the busy shopping season in Galena, Vinny Vanucchi's fills up quickly, so you may have to make a reservation, but it is worth the wait. After a long day of shopping, it's nice to come back to an air conditioned place with awesome food and good wine and relax for a bit.
They are medium priced for their entrees, but again, it is worth it. We go every time we're in Galena.

This is the best of the best greenhouses in the Galena area. Master gardeners. Perennial experts. Knowledgeable and caring plants people. You can be assured that the plant you buy is healthy and ideally suited to the local growing climate. I give them all stars and all thumbs up!
PROS: Selection and quality. Horticulture knowledge. Honesty!
CONS: There aren't enough people in the world like them.

Poopsie's is a really fun, unique store located on Galena's main tourist strip. They have all kinds of gifts and novelties for poeple of all ages. they have books, toys, and educational gifts for kids. They have a large area for pet related gifts, like funny books and home decor. They have bath and body stuff, like candles, soaps, and lotions. They have holiday decor. However, the most unique things they carry are one of a kind pieces by local artists. The store itself is quite large, but it is usually crowded. The people are very nice and helpful. The parking can be difficult, as there is only limited street parking on Galena's main strip.

The Galena Cellars Winery story is a nice place to stop in when shopping in the Galena. I love wine tasting and often go with friends and we enjoy sitting, soaking up the sun and enjoying some samples. More often than not, I come home with a bottle of very nice wine.

We spent a nice weekend at this lovely resort in Galena. The facilities are very nice, including the whirlpool and sauna. Rooms are clean and the staff is very accomodating. The location is great for a relaxing weekend of shopping and wine tasting.

Poopsie's is a fun store in historic Galena. The store is located on Main Street surronded by many other little shops. In Poopsie's you can find many items you won't find anywhere else. The one major downfall of Poopsie's are their very high prices. I find it a fun place to look around but I don't buy much there do to the prices. If you find yourself in Galena be sure to stop by.
