My husband and I have enjoyed dinner (usually sushi) at Chomps many times over the last six years. However, our visit there on Tuesday will DEFINATELY be our last! Instead of eating at the sushi bar, we setteIed on Tepan. I ordered the Under the Sea special, which includes both shrimp and scallops and. Durring service I commented to my husband that the chif didn't take nearly as much time to cook our food he usually does. While the food tasted great, about an hour after finishing my meal, I became violently ill. My husband has called the restaurant three times to complain and hopfully be reumburssed, but so far managment has just given him the run around. I mentioned my experience at Chomps to a friend and she said they use old fish and have been closed down by the H----- Department twice. Had I known early, I NEVER would have ate there!
Pros: Fun and up-beat atmospher
Cons: Old and undercooked fish!!!!!

OK well I can honestly say their sushi is great.. Their Sexy Mutha roll is one of my favorite. However or teppan I preffer to go to Karutas in Buena Park.. if you go to and pick up an OC Weekly magazine get their cupon for a buy one dinner get one free teppan only you'll save alot especially if its a birthday party you can use as many coupons as you want .. At first I was embarrased but then I noticed everyone uses them so what the heck.. free dinner cant beat that..and their portions are alot bigger then at Chomps .. Karutas is better order a Geishia and you get to keep the little porcelain mug when u order the drink. its on Beach Blvd. and Orangethorpe

I signed my receipt for $35 on October 4th, 2008. I then looked at my banking account a few days later to see they charged me $75. I called and left a voicemail at their restruant every day for a week straight and as of today, October 17th I have not received a call back. I also wrote them an email and have received no response. I am very disappointed in their customer service and I will NEVER GO BACK!
Thank you for reading.

Being from Japan, I know fresh and authentic, but this place isn't it. They try the Benihana technique, but the service I have received from the last 15 years has been friendly, however food quality I have to say they lack majorly. Try this for those who eat there: when ordering shrimp, try to see if the shrimp tail slips off the shell when pulling. If they break off easily, and not slip off, that just tells you it is old. I tried ordering traditional sushi, and I would say it is not even close. I hate the false advertising for those who try to sell you "sushi" they take decades of training, and when sashimi is more than a day old, they leave a shiny film that resemble a thin mother-of-pearl shine (check that out too!) I don't feel that they get how important fresh means to sushi and sashimi, and one can end up getting really sick from that, not to mention poorly selected fish can send you to the hospital, and I don't have the confidence to eat there any more.
Pros: Friendly service
Cons: Non-fresh food, extremely loud, insects in the restaurant

Went there for the $20 all you can eat sushi and thought it was a deal in the too expensive restaurant. Since they have many "rules" on how to get to your next plate I couldn't get passed the first. I could of paid $10 for those rolls at a small mom&pops sushi place. Our server was nice, only good thing I have to say.
Pros: The serivce from the server Katty
Cons: food $$$$$

I had dinner here to celebrate a birthday. The atmosphere was perfect. The place is always crowded. We had the teppan dinner where they cook your food in front of you. It's a bit overpriced but fun for a group. I wasn't wowed by the food but it wasn't disappointing either. I wouldn't pick this place as a first choise but would not decline if I was invited.

OKAY, the parking sucked, we had to wait a bit for our reservation and the music was a bit loud, but once we got down we had the time of our lives! We had sushi first and later the teppen chef came out and threw rice everywhere and made me laugh so hard my beer came out of my nose! The scallops and filet mignon were perfectly done, and my friend's pomegranate martini was the best I'd ever tasted. KUDOS.
Pros: FOOD
Cons: Wait

As soon as you walk in , your shoe's stick to the floor like some kind of glue. Probably to keep the customers from running away. Two Manager's are eating at the bar talking to a third about how it use to be at Rockin Taco, while customer's are waiting for a take out ,for 30 minutes. The receptionist had to appoligize for the wait 4 times during the wait and the dish called ceviche leaves much to be desired. Four thin pieces of toast that look as thin as potatoe chips and a mixture of fish that is mostly scallops in a sauce of Pace Picante Sauce with dried crab meat on top. Most strongly a candidate for Hell's Kitchen. The owner's would be served best by leveling the place and starting from the ground up. In this time of a poor economy and huge unemployment, you would think the owner's could do better, but I guess, one must employ family. Not to be tried again until you see a large sign that says " Under new Management". By the way, don't expect change back unless you ask for it and when you do, you are left with the feeling that they think they deserve it. Not exactly my worst experience, but I haven't waited 24 hours to see how it comes out.
Pros: They had air conditioning
Cons: everything
