My wife and I are EXTREME mexican food eaters, we definatly consider Tia juanas Bar and Grill one of the best mexican restaurants in the Fremont / Newark area. We wandered in the first week it opened and have been going there on almost a weekly basis ever since. Our 2 boys,2 & 4 years old, have literally grown up there. Every other mex. restaurant we have tried since going to Tia juana's is compaired to this as a yardstick. We just can't get enough. The people there are the friendliest, most attentive I have experienced. The food is very authentic with the perfect combination of flavor and spice. I would recomend the # 31( special burrito) with Chilli verde , or the Carne Adobada. For those who enjoy alittle ( or alotta spice) the Camarones al a Diabla is litteraly to die for. Please if you love mexican food in a friendly ,family atmosphere try Tia juana's Bar and Grill. We would, and have, driven many miles to eat there.
Pros: Food and service in a family environment
Cons: none

My husband and I visited this restaurant for the first time last night. I've passed by it hundreds of times and I never considered going into the restaurant. From the outside, it screamed bar more than food. This is not the case AT all. The staff was SO attentive and the food was great. I grew up in San Francisco and find it difficult to find good Mexican food here in Newark/Fremont. I had their special, steak and grilled shrimp. The shrimp was delicious and everything was very flavorable and seasoned well. My husband ordered a steak burrito and I warned him about ordering burritos from restaurants and not the usual small store-front burrito shops that they have up and down the street in the Mission of SF. I said it won't be good from a restaurant. This wasn't the case, the steak in the burrito was delicious and he told me to feel free to stop by there anytime to grab dinner on the way home from work.
It was a fun night out and the staff was really great and attentive. They asked how is everything a few times and they really meant it.
We will definitely be returning to this restaurant!
Pros: Food, Service, Low priced entrees
Cons: Average ambience

We stopped here on Saturday for lunch. The staff, though maybe unusually busier than normal for a country-type pub, were friendly and professional, even asking if everything was ok with the meals.
The restaurant was over half full as there was a 50th wedding anniversary party dinning there. I thought it might be a bad idea eating here when I saw the 40ish people arriving at the same time, but actually from ordering food for my 2 children and myself we waited about only 10 minutes.
The food was good value, nicely presented and kids' eyes lit up when they saw the size of the burger.
I would definitly stop there again.
PROS: fun, carefree atmosphere, nice people
CONS: noise level
